Description
Class: Sharp-Mystery
Components: Stormcutter + Boneknapper (aka a Bonestormer variant)
The Spectral Stormknapper is a rare variant of the Bonestormer- about as rare as a Screaming Death hatched from an egg laid by a Whispering Death. What this variant lacks in numbers, it makes up for with individual size and power, growing larger than either of its parent species. The Stormknapper reaching a size comparable to the Typhoomerang is not uncommon insofar as this variant has been measured. It's been theorized that the Stormknapper could grow even larger, but such individuals have not yet been found. Unlike its more common brethrehen, this dragon has only a single pair of wings as inherited from its Boneknapper parent. It also wears a different arrangement of bones to the regular Bonestormer, generally adding a Boneknapper like "Rib Cage" to its torso, and leaving the wings bone free. It's speculated that this is because the Stormknapper has razor sharp scales and claws on the leading edges of its wings, and wearing bones on top of those would hinder the function of the wings in some way. Another curious feature of this variant is its flattened, Stormcutter like face and rounded head, a feature which is tempered by the regular Bonestormers prominent snout. This dragon is equally comfortable walking on both legs and wings and walking on its legs only... why this is the case is unknown, but may have something to so with the Stormcutter genes passed down to it. A feature which it does share with regular Bonestormers is the need to wear bones. That being said, this dragon rarely steals its own bones- instead, it prefers to bully smaller Bonestormers, regular Boneknappers, and other Boneknapper descendant species into stealing bones for it. Aside from this despotic, almost Dreadknapper-esque behavior, the Spectral Stormknapper also has three other things in common with its smaller kin- the ability to turn its own head to a full 180 degrees rotation from a neutral position, extremely good eyesight (as in can spot a mouse from a quarter of a mile away eyesight), and the long clubbed tail, the latter of which plays a prominent role both as ballast and as steering in this particular variant of Bonestormer. This dragon is also notable for having one of the strangest fire types in the dragon world- smoky, billowing clouds like the Boneknappers fire, but with the heat and characteristic tornado-esque swirl of the Stormcutters fire. This particular type of shot is somehow able to generate its own whirlwind and keep moving in a given general direction after it has fully left the dragons mouth, making it far more deadly than the average dragons fire. It's speculated that this is the inspiration for the Jorgensen Clan's myth of a "Skeleternal Dragon"...
