Description

That evening, E.v.e. sat by the door of her house, staring at the bone in her hands. She had compared it with a book on dragon bones, and confirmed that it was a cervical vertebra from a hatching Screaming Death. Wall.e sat down next to her and remarked, "I heard about this mornings incidents..." She then asked, "Do you think that bone could have something to do with it?" E.v.e. looked up, and replied, "I'm not sure. I get the feeling that this is connected with the Titanwing Boneknapper and the Rogue Skrillknappers somehow. I don't know how, though... and I'm not sure what to make of last nights bone shower. I do get the feeling that this isn't over, though..." As if to prove her right, someone screamed, "FLYING SKELETONS!", and the raucous din of clattering weapons and shields started outside.

Wall.e and E.v.e. ran outside, their dragons trailing after them. When they looked up, they gasped and recoiled in horror. the same flock of Skrillknappers that had attacked the patrol earlier was now attacking the town! Wall.e's and E.v.e.'s dragons, among others, took off and attacked the flock in mid air, causing the sky to light up with a maelstrom of fire and lightning. Then, they began to grapple with the rogue Skrillknappers, wrestling them out of the sky. The flock was thrown to the ground in the middle of a panicked circle of armed vikings, who promptly screamed a disorienting cacophony of war cries and flew at the Skrillknappers from every direction at once (save for up, where the towns dragons were still ferociously battling with their flockmates. The Skrillknappers got up and started fighting back, matching war hammers with tail clubs, swords with razor sharp claws, and battle axes with tough, razor sharp horns. Wall.e and E.v.e. tried to back out of the crowd, but there was no way out- the crowd pushed them forwards, and there was no other choice but to join the fray. Wall.e and E.v.e. jumped at the Skrillknappers, and landed on the heads of two of them, trying just to hold on as the Skrillknappers bucked, roared, and lunged at the vikings around them. Some of the vikings threw nets at the Skrillknappers, and Wall.e and E.v.e. sprung out of the way just as the nets hit their mark. Almost as quickly as the Skrillknappers on the ground were entangled, they started trying to free themselves. The vikings again fell on the rogue Skrillknappers, only for their still airborne brethren to drop in and join the attack as the towns dragons dropped down to join their trainers.

For a tense moment, everyone simply stared at each other, the Skrillknappers forming a defensive ring around their entangled brethren, and the vikings and the towns dragons circling around them, all manner of weapons drawn and all manner of fire blasts ready to be launched. The Skrillknappers finally saw that they were outnumbered, though most of their opponents were much smaller than them, and after a long tense moment, the Skrillknappers made their move. They flash fried the nets off their entangled brethren, and the whole flock took off, screaming in frustration and dismay. Everyone that had turned out to defend the town watched in frightened silence as the flock reorganized and disappeared into the night sky. Wall.e and E.v.e. exchanged glances after the final Skrillknappers flew out of sight- and back the way they had come. Both had the uneasy feeling that this was connected to the other attacks... and the Screaming Death vertebra. For that matter, neither of them could shake the feeling that for all the day's troubles, whatever was going on with the Boneknappers and Boneknapper Hybrids wasn't over yet.
