Description

The first Rescue Riders redesign has landed! The Swiftwing was an interesting dragon to redesign, as there were a few different possible redesigns that I'd considered sketching out.

The main issues I had with the original design are...

- Too little detail, particularly in the markings department

- The dragon looked kind of... plasticy? I don't know how else to describe it...

- There is little to no way the Swiftwing is going to be stable in flight with virtually nothing to act as a "rudder"/stabilizer... not even spines or a sail...

- The head looks... off for a dragon that's supposed to be closely related to the Furies... almost like a prototype for the weird head shapes of the TNR Nightlights...

The redesigned Swiftwing has a mixture of spots, stripes, and stripe-spots? running down most of the length of its body, which help break up its outline and make the dragon more difficult to spot in flight, especially on clear days and/or at a distance. The Swiftwing also now sports large, rounded wings, which are not too different from those of its larger cousins. This dragon also now has a stabilizing sail on its back, and three tail wings, which act as a combination of a rudder, ballast, and a steering mechanism in flight. The central tail wing also aids the sail in keeping the dragon stabilized in flight. As is the case with the Furies, the Swtiftwing can be disabled if a tail wing got cut off or otherwise destroyed. The dragons head took on an overall sleeker, more streamlined profile, with a closer resemblance to the heads of other Fury like dragons. This dragon, unlike most "Furies", has a crest on top of its head, which seems to act a bit like the Cassowaries. That is to say that this dragon primarily uses it for headbutting, and it hits hard. It also has a hooked, beak like snout, which it uses as a means to tear into/tear apart its prey. To reduce drag, the Swiftwing only has two "nubs" where the other Furies can get away with more. They also have vision better than that of a human, being able to spot a rabbit from a distance of 1 mile away and a height of 10,000 feet. They can also see ultraviolet light in addition to the red-green-blue spectrum, and they can se magnetic fluctuations with one eye (the other functions as a normal eye.) Like the Night Fury, the Swiftwing spends much of its time in the air, and is extremely fast and agile in flight. The Swiftwing retains its plasma blasts, but the redesigns shot limit of now doubled from 3 to 6 regular blasts, and from 1 to 2 "power/overcharged" blasts. This suggests that it can control the amount of power it puts into each blast, much like a Night Fury... it can also enter an "Overcharged" state from neglecting to fire off shots for too long... this acts similarly to an "Alpha Mode", but with the detrimantal side effect of putting the dragon in intense pain, and driving it into a blind frenzy.
