Nice one! Neat story, and I like your take on Shockwave's logic- that would explain why sometimes his reason seems to crack, but rarely.
Who was his friend? Did he have a name?

It always seemed wierd that he was the ONLY logical bot, it's not a common trait. And his name is Shockwave which isn't very calm sounding. So I figured, "What would make you shut down your emotions?" - the answer: extreme pain.
As for the friend, no-one remembers the name except Shockwave...

That is weird... especially since they're mechanical, you'd think that the more emotional ones would be the harder things to find. Prowl I think sometimes is "supposed" to be logical too (I don't know, the TF universe is really new to me) but it hasn't really seemed that way to me... except maybe his view of collateral damage.
You're right though, that does make sense- and shows a neat facet of his history. He seems like he could be powerful enough to take Megatron down, but he doesn't.
Hope this isn't the last piece you provide on this vein. It's too interesting!

You know, I have always wondered why Shockwave was 'different'... I once hypothesised that he did it to himself, a logical self-upgrade.

ooh, I like this. A nice twist to Shockblast's character, even though the "traitor" card has been used time and time again. Maybe it's just me, but the colours suggest how grim everything is. Maybe that's just me though XD

Awesome; as you say, Rui's work is just amazing, we've worked (and are working) with her already and her art is so good.
A couple of questions: that Megatron design is the Megs: Origin one? I'm not sure; I've been looking at a pre-Earth design for Megatron to use in our stories; most probably based on that unused Abrams tank design that was very much like G1 Megs in robot mode, this one seems like it could have been based on that same one.
I also wonder if this is set in the IDW continuity, because it could make a great adition to our own G1 cartoon continuity too.

I think the Megs design is the Stormbringer one which might be the same as the Megs Origin one. The good thing about this story is that it should fit in any continuity. His toadying in the cartoon could be seen through the context of this deception, the G1 comic where he's trying to overthrow Megs, or IDW continuity where he seems to be a bit of a lone wolf. If I make this sound easy - trust me it wasn't!
A few of my Mosaics have been set in or could fit into your continuity. There are a couple more to come actually. I don't think I was necessarily planning it this way it's just how it went!

Oh, sure, sure I wasn't saying you had planned it that way; I was more thinking that we could team up and make some of your stories officially part of our project.
As an example I have some ideas for Season 5 stories (that would be our replacement for the Masterforce japanese series), and your After the Fall seems like an excellent staring point for something like that, it's obviously not set in the Japanese continuity, and shows a very original premise that hasn't been seen before.
Even this Shockwave one would fit, as I'm planning to show someof Megatron's gladiator connection (I know nothing of this appears in the cartoon, but they never say this didn't happen either 
Anyway, if you are interested, please send me a note, I'd love it if you collaborate with us in any level.

This is truly a piece of art. I really love your starscapes, they're very deep and it seems like they go on forever. And the smoke - haven't I mentioned before that I love how you do smoke?
It's an excellent story too. I never saw Season Three of The Transformers; but I'm sure it would have made a great plot twist if Shockwave had tried to overthrow Megatron. Great work!

Yeah, that clears a lot of things up! I really appreciate that you've described your techniques a little - it'll be really great advice for us who want to play around with the feel and atmosphere. And you know, I really like all the passion you put into your work as well as the logic side - the contrast between the hot and cold shades makes a lot of sense now. Really lovely!
