I wonder if there could be a cross over fanfic w/ gunslinger girls and fim since big brother mentors and lil girls assist by ponies seems interesting and might work . heck I mean look at CSImadmax's Megan drawing of the 1st gen !

We actually had this discussion on a forum I'm part of... and decided that a GSG/MLP crossover was far more than the world was capable of handling right now

well then, the world will see and know how capable they are themselves in handling such awesomeness ! muwahahahahaha

Fantastic lighting, but all I can think of is Antipodes.

Uh... It's a rather popular (at least with me) fanfiction by PK.

Ah, that'd explain it then... I haven't really gotten that involved on the fanfiction side of things, mostly though a simple lack of time.

I would recommend it. It's fun... and [expansive] (see time).

The light and dark contrast is so awesome. If you took it a bit more this could even be Baroque, if they had giant hangers and blimps back then...

Damn... now all your comment has me thinking about is pillars and gothic arches... hmm, may be a way to address some of what *47ness was talking about *rubs chin thoughtfully*

Cheers.

That's an amazing art! O.o
I am an aspiring mystic sci-fi fantasy writer. I would love to try and do something with you. Like something illustrative, or a comic or something, if you want to
Again, an awesome gallery

By the way, I love the stading and details in this piece. It feels kind of futuristic in a "primitive" way. I love it

Heh, cheers.

Sadly comics and the like are probably out right now... I actually used to run one, but then real life got in the way and I ran out of time, wrapped up the story arc and moved to writing. If I ever do find the time again, I'm afraid there's other people already have first dibs

Don't get me wrong though, I'm flattered by the offer

Sadface. They're lucky
It's more some kind of illustration help though, for my book or something. Mainly black-white, but it's fine

Good luck.

"Intolerance"? Is this a warship?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wraith11 In reply to Nyerguds [2012-02-14 08:12:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, she's a warship... which I realise is more than a little out of sync for the MLP universe, but in my defence the airship came first.

For the record I pictured her as a 34 gun (16 in each broadside plus one bow chaser and one stern chaser) heavy cruiser. One day I'll sit down and think out an air-warship design properly... one day.

Psssh. I'm a huge fan of Fallout: Equestria. Combining ponies and bloody war doesn't even cost me any effort anymore

Who are those two?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wraith11 In reply to lanternjoe [2012-02-14 08:08:19 +0000 UTC]

Those two? No-pony in particular... I sort of pictured this as a form of Naval dry dock facility (insofar as you can have "dry docks" for airships), so I guess they're probably yard dogs of some description... maybe Intolerant is in for a refit and they're discussing how to best go about it.

47ness [2012-02-13 10:00:46 +0000 UTC]

Bwahaha. I like the dapple lighting fo sho.

You gotta be careful with your compositions, bro. This piece is very 50/50 and it's making it hard to figure out what the focus is supposed to be (the airship or the open skies; also, is the airship is coming or leaving.) Environment pieces benefit from a strong underlying narrative.

I feel like there could be some more midground too; something to balance out the darkest darks and lightest lights you got going on.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wraith11 In reply to 47ness [2012-02-13 10:30:07 +0000 UTC]

Heh yeah... I got about halfway through and realised the composition was a little too centred, I think I need a wider monitor. However by that stage I was too far along to be able to bear the thought of trying to add more in

Good point about the narrative though, I'll keep it in mind for next time. As to the midground, I take it you're talking about lighting? Or as in the actual middle of the picture? ie, would it be worth, say, employing the midground lighting around the foreground to pick out more details there? (if that makes sense?).

Cheers mate, feedback and crit always appreciated.

I've recently been tasked to do panoramic scenes so it would definitely be something to work with two monitors on one image. XD;

Both, actually...! Midground lighting to tie together the lights and darks, and some midground elements so there isn't such a gulf between fore and rear. I think it would even be ideal to add more haze on the airship's body as it recedes back to show off how massive it is. :3

Sure thing! I'm high on some quality medium roast so I'm just on a roll tonight. XD;;
