Description
And there you were thinking it was going to involve underwear or something...Well, this is another one of those things that got out of hand. It started with me thinking that two of my favorite characters, from two seperate animes were both named after some kind of car. So here's Tessa Testarossa (from Full Metal Panic!) with a Ferrari Testarossa. Not the god-awful supercar, but the older (and therefore far cooler) 250 Testarossa, built on the 250GTO platform. So, from left to right: Kaname Chidori (looking like she really isn't soaking up the atmosphere), The military brat (Shinji Kazama), Hyperactive sugar girl (Kyouko Tokiwa), Sousuke Sagura (trying to inflate a tyre), Kurtz Webber (hey, he's named after a carburettor), Melissa Mao (smoking while re-fueling the car, couldn't figure out where the actual fuel cap was), Tessa Testarossa.
Originally it was just going to be Tessa and the car. Then I thought "Hey, lets have some of the rest of the crew from FMP! working on it". Which was promptly followed by "It would only be good if they were dressed in period outfits". Which was finally followed by "they'd better be at Goodwood", Goodwood being the closest thing to REAL racing you can get without building a time machine. In which case your DeLorean may look a little out of place in 1960...
For those that don't know, by "Goodwood" I actually refer to the Goodwood Revival. It is an annual event put on by the Earl of March (on who's estate Goodwood Motor Circuit is on) and is basically an excuse for Classic Car enthusiasts to get dressed up in silly clothes then hit the track to make sure that they have enough repair work ahead to keep themselves amused till next Revival. Actually, there is a bit more to it. No car built after 1966 is allowed into the circuit. Visitors must be dressed in period costume (whether that be 60's, country gentelmen , City Socialites or WWII Military). Men are not allowed into the paddock without a tie. Mechanics wear ties and the old white canvas coveralls. On the evening prior to the event, special guests and compeditors are invited to cocktail on the lawn infront of March Manor. During which time a number of Spitfires and Hurricanes (Goodwood having been an RAF base during the war) alight on the lawn (this is a BIG estate), flown by men in full WWII RAF attire, and guided in by similarly clothed groundcrew, who then join the revellers... You get the idea. It's one of those places I want to visit atleast once in my lifetime. Link to the site is here ---> [link]
Highly reccomend clicking on "the experience" and watching the little movie, a lap round the circuit in a Ferrari 250GTO.
Anyways, enough from me. As a sidenote: "Testarossa" in Italian literally translates to "Red head", so where the bollocks they got off giving it to Tessa (who has sort of silver-greyish hair in the seires) as a last name, I don't know.

Peter Brock once drove a 1986 Holden Commodore V8 Supercar at the Revival...sorry to burst your bubble re 1966
It was even funnier, cause while the rest of the classics were dressed in smart Blues, Reds and British Racing Green, the Commodore was orange and white with great big 80s Marlboro ads all over it
He nearly won in his category, too. Freaking awesome drawing. I'm gonna do a Morgan now: Draw my car, draw MY car!

Umm, I think you may be confused with the "Festival of Speed", which is the other major racing meet held at Goodwood, which is open to much newer cars. There are pictures of him at the Revival with a corvette, but no Commodore.
Rules state from the Revival website: "Throughout the Goodwood Revival weekend, no vehicle built after 1966 is allowed into the Goodwood Motor Circuit, and more than 200 pre-1966 vehicles are brought in to service the site. From the post van to the plumber's pick-up, from chauffeured taxis to catering trucks, everything must be pre-1966."
Gah! I'm citeing things. Been doing this stuff for too long. But honestly, I do think you're confused with the Festival of Speed.
Oh, and I do have a pic lined up for your car. But you'll have to wait for Christmas (literally) for it. Or atleast early December.

Hahaha, geez man. I love the amount of detail you put into this, not only for the artwork itself, but the information you listed as well. Superb work on the cars as well. Is that a Shelby GT Cobra in the far back? Whatever the case, I've always liked how you've got that Aussie interest in mostly everything you incorporate, even if most of the characters here are from FMP!.

Well, actually Goodwood is English, but what the hell, close enough. The only differnce between us and them is that THEY threw US out of THEIR country Perhaps I can do another one of Speed on Tweed... hmmm. Or maybe the ARC for the Subaru in the next one...
And yes, yes that is an Shelby Cobra. A real one
Thanks so much, especially for the fav.

Hehe, nice. That's my dad's favourite car. Sometime down the track he's even thinking of buying one too. XD
It's one of my personal favs as well, beside the ol' Dodge Viper RTS, among a few of the Holden series. Can't stand Ford though as a company. They're like... enemies of Holden! Even if they're responsible for the Shelby Cobra GT500 and other really great vehicles over time... >_> <_< >_>

Absolutely! Fords were put on this earth for one reason. So that Holdens could look good!
I must admit, I like some of their cars, the GT40, some Mustangs, and the Escorts though. Oh, and anything with "Cosworth" somewhere in it's name
I wish your dad the best of luck getting an original AC Cobra, there were only about 316 ever made. Gotta love them though. I got one! It's 1/10th scale with an electric motor and two channel radio

lol, well maybe he'll settle for one of the Cobras in the lineup, if not that. XD
One of my other fav cars happens to be the ol' DeLorean too, thanks to my love for the BttF Trilogy. "I figured that if you're going to go through time, why not ride it in style!"
We used to own a Porshe 944... that was until it had a little accident with my brother behind the wheel a year or so back... >_>

Technically, it was difficult to say. I know that the car might have been later on repaired, but in the state my bro left it in, it was beyond what we were willing to fix. The whole front was completely smashed in. (Put it this way. My brother was driving it in the middle of the night, stormy weather, constant heavy rain, then happened to drive off the side of the road for God only knows how, and ended up jumping into a creek. The car wasn't submerged, but I think the front right up to the dashboard was. I wasn't there, so the details are like a well kept secret at times... bah. That was a nice car too, and I only got to ride in it three times. It was my dad's car too, and he had only driven in it 7 times... >_>

Hmmβ¦ Iβd wonder how many people in the world can be as into cars and anime at the same time?

Hey! Your car smells like mine! 'Cept there's a definate oil smell to mine as well... Hey, it's Italian, at least it doesn't leak as much as british stuff
Somehow I don't think there's that many (overall) who would be into both. Definately not Classic cars anyway.
Thanks, 'specially for the fav/

he he he... my old American Chevy leaks oil like crazy! good thing about it is that it has almost no rust under because of the oil bath... the Lancer does not smell of oil too much... 'cause it's japanese I guess... the old Japanese cars are more of the unburnt gas smell. brake and tire smell due to locking up infornt of the house (almost overshot!)
it would have been a sin not fave something like this!
