Description
During my time in Rome, I went underground to view old homes that existed hundreds of years ago. There is a big church that was discovered to be built on top of another church. Below that were two layers of homes--through out Rome's expansive history, landslides (massive mudslide stories that were pretty horrifying) and just the architectural growth, the city was rebuilt again and again on top of the old city. It was incredible to go underground and see these old homes. To walk out into a cave's tunnel and be told, "this used to be the street outside. The cobblestone at your feet used to see the sun. That wall, was a home, that crevice, is the beginning of a dig to a next door neighbor's house..." So incredible!

As seen above, this is the structure of an old room, in an underground home. I am standing in one home, and this shows the walls and structure of another home that used to exist beneath.
