It greatly irks me how Celestia has almost as many haters as she has fans whereas Luna has many fans and little to no haters. Now, I by no means hate Luna, I just like Celestia far more. When Luna became evil, due to jealousy and bitterness she could've refused to give into and tried to cover Equestria with eternal night that would've spelled certain doom for the ponies, Celestia ruled all by herself for the thousand years that followed, bringing both the night and day, keeping her chin up for the sake of her subjects, etc. Also, Celestia is Twilight's mentor, even a mother figure, the one who reads the lessons learned by Twilight and her friends. She clearly deserves more love than she has.Related content

Ever thought why most Luna fans are guys?
Celly (I like calling her that): Caring, responsible, kind, and wise. If I were Twilight, I'd call her mom cuz she does have the heart of a mother. She defended her country and subjects against Chrysalis. She fell, but she didn't fall uselessly. That was an honorable stand she made. A true noble princess. If she were to rule our planet, she'd make it better. We need leaders like her.
Luna: Thanks to the Children of the Night, now she is viewed as the savior of pony kind. She's got more followers than her sister. She raises the moon? Okay. Moon's good for controlling tidal waves. But what about her political activities? Did she accompany her sister when Celly was welcoming the envoys from Saddle Arabia? No. Was Luna with her when she confronted Chrysalis? No. Luna cares about having fun. Heck, no wonder that she chose to come on Nightmare Night, and only be at the time of dancing in the royal wedding. That's what people want: a character who wants to have fun, fun, and fun all the time.Β
Thanks to all this, I'm starting to like Celly even more. And this whole SE vs NLR crappy war better stop cuz it's embarrassing those who wish for Equestria's unity.

All that is true.Β Celestia-I totally stand by her being like Twilight's mom, which is why I really hate Twilestia, and the people who said she was too powerful, after Chrysalis,Β they said she was a weakling.Β Also, in EqG, she suffered a downgrade as bad as Spike's-from the immortal princess of an entire country to a high school principal who is most likely mortal.
Also, the moon is basically a big rock in the sky, created when a meteor hit the Earth and theΒ loose debris clumped together into a ball (I think), back in Season 1 some people said the Best Night Ever sucked because Luna wasn't in it, when they say Luna wasn't at theΒ changeling fight because she needed to rest I picture Luna yelling at the chaos "I'm trying to sleep here!"Β Also, people are still fighting over that scene in A Bird in the Hoof whereas all is forgiven with Luna.Β

I find her role as school principal pretty funny.XD And just because she fell in battle, doesn't mean she is weak. If Chrysalis was real, those who called her weak would run like chickens. You can count on it.
There are some theories as to how the moon was formed, but I'll stand with the one you mentioned.Β

I prefer Luna over Celestia, but I don't hate her. Why does she get so much hate? I don't know, but it greatly irks me with all the comics and fanart showing that Celestia is a molester, troll or a tryant. A few jokes of her is fine, but when people cross the line, thats when I get pissed.

The reason people hate Tia so much is because most fans of the show though it was Luna who was banished.Not Nightmare Moon.So they hated Celestia for treating Luna badly.I personally love Celestia with all my heart.She`s sweet and caring like a mother is to a child.And she has a great sense of humor and a cheeky side thanks to the whole tea scene.People hate her because they find nearly every muscle she moves to be an excuse for her being mean or a troll.
And just something personal,i sorta like the idea of Princess Celestia being Rainbow Dash`s Best Friend or Mother.

I love Celestia and Luna, though I love Luna way more. I agree that Celestia has too many haters but I disagree that it was Luna's fault about what happened in the past. she got taken over and couldn't control herself. it was said by faust herself that there is a creature in the forest that fed off of Luna's jealousy and took her over.
So I don't think Luna should be blamed for Nightmare Moon.

I honestly never understood how or why people LOVED Luna so much. I mean, she only first appeared at the end of episode 2 and was never seen again until Season 2 episode 4.
I never really liked or hated Luna. I just had no feelings for her, since she hardly got much screentime. From Season 2 I started to like her and most of Season 3 was when I started to like her a lot.
But I always thought that Celestia should deserve more recognition than Luna.

I do like Luna more than Celestia, but not because of some stupid headcanon story that makes Celestia a tyrant
It's just that Celestia doesn't have a very interesting personality...
I mean yeah, her backstory is deep and stuff
But it doesn't really show in her personality
so she's nice and kind and likes to pull a few jokes, but she has no flaws like all the other characters do
And no, being defeated by Chrysalis is not a flaw. It is only a physical flaw, it says nothing about her and her character.
I'm really hoping for more character development for Celestia, she's beautifully designed and has the potential to become my favourite princess
If she had a little spice to her personality like Luna, I'm sure there would be less haters.

I couldn't pick a favorite princess until Sleepless in Ponyville...Luna's dreamwalking won me over, along with her incredible behind-the-times trophy. And Cadence is fun because she's closer to the age of the main cast and kicks butt. But I have always been a fan of Celestia. I just always like parental figures for some reason....even if they have bad dialogue.

Omg, I always think the same thing when I am looking at vote things like, "Celestia or Luna?". Most comments say something like this, "Luna is best pony!","Go Lunar Republic!","Celestia sucks! Luna is better!". I'm one of the only people on there that voted for Celestia, so I typed,"Celestia of course! (Geez, I'm against the whole world...)". I'm glad to see some people see it my way!
