Wow... I absolutely love this. It's very painterly for a photograph. I think you nailed the composition spot on.

I really enjoy the beauty throughout this muddy water series. What do you think makes them beautiful, given you regard them as such?

They are part of a larger process, they come about and play their role from a infinitely complex system of meteorology and geology and so on. That reminds me that we are each a part of some wider story and are connected, that is mostly what drives me to photograph them.
As for the beautiful, their formal qualities appeal my eye and I enjoy structuring them into a whole. To walk onto a scene like this one with a range of visual substances and trying to work them into some beautiful final form is a process of my own that i enjoy a lot and the investment of effort helps make work like this pleasing to me.
Thanks for the comment man

Thanks for the response.
"Work them into something beautiful" puts to words exactly what I appreciate about these works. They are probably out there in the millions, yet it's luck but artistic skill to get to see them, and consequently being able to capture them.
Keep it up, I enjoy.

I obsess over water in my photography.
I tend to shoot it a little too much at times I'm sure, but it's what I love.
This photo is astounding in that it shows such a force of nature that most people never notice because it is actually so small.
Wonderful work...it makes me smile!

Thank you
Yes there are a few guts and such, if you like you can turn on your mature content filter in your DA settings and the gore will be hidden from you so you can go through the gallery in peace.

amazing one ! the contrasts are striking, between the pools of cool grey water and the fiery red of the plant, between the sinuous lines in the pool and the plant.. i also love the ray of light just behind the leaves... A real piece of zen !

I almost believed that, but it was too good to be true ..
Even if you rolled around in the mud and ate it you wouldn't still reach him.

The landscape seems agressive and in constant change, it is one's determination that will let us stand on our feet against that change.
I loved this one man, you paint with your camera.

Every day, the river and the river bed are different. I think most of my river photos come from with-in a 100-yard area but they are never the same looking really. It's part of what I love about it, the stability is change
I try man

Hmm. I think the Grey border adds a sense of loneliness to the image but I don't see the single plant as alone. I see it as a growing beauty in the sea of life. Cause water has all kinds of things that probably float on by. I think a white border would suit it better for my personal interpretation but yours is the most important, naturally.

I think white is too harsh unless there is a lot of white in the main shot already, also grey has a symbolic significance in this case.
In my work like this and say Erosion Nocturne plants do represent life, so your reading it well imo.

What's the symbolism of the grey?
I like white borders to brighten the image. Personally I do white or black. I don't like things in between unless I can matte and frame it myself in person. Then I like to do quite different things.

Wisdom, intellect, right brain, Chokhmah, the word, etc.
Most any on-image border is imperfect, mine are 1/2 the size of suggested crop zone at DA because I don't want bits clipped off in a full bleed but also don't want to have the really large area I'd need to protect the whole thing. Came out well on the prints I've got of my own work at lest. i'm not trying to match a matte but transition into it most of the time

Aaah. Alright, well then I suppose it fits. :3
I use the 5% matte thing. I dunno. It works alright. My prints have come in nice at least.

So beautiful. I really love how you make these textured photos that look almost like paintings. :clap
What camera do you use if I may ask?

What a beautiful photo! The single plant looks almost like a flame rising from the water. Not sure about the black border but its just not a big deal. The sharpness of the land under the water is terrific - the water seems to disappear
