Although I do have one question, is he missing his mask around his eyes? Cause there is the mask tails behind his head

And what might have confused you is that April is holding onto the front of Donnie's mask because she's pulling it down. She just wanted to see his face uncovered. You probably though that the front of his mask is a mask tail, but it's not. That's all I guess.
