"Alright Rusty, give him the go ahead.", Julius nodded.
The Ginger-haired boy grinned, "He don't look the least bit scared, Mr. Edward."
"No, he looks almost eager, I'd say. Just urge him on, gently. We don't want him to spook his first time pulling."
The colt whinnied loudly and stomped his foot impatiently.
"Alright Bullet", Rusty crowed, "Yah!" The horse immediately lurched forward, his ears twisting back as the weight of the stick made it drag in the dirt.
"Hold him back, Rusty, don't let that stick fly up from behind! Remember, this is just to get him used to the harness."
Rusty walked ahead of Bullet, pulling on the lead rope gently to urge the colt forward. He took one hand off the lead to run through his curly hair, and that's when Bullet made his move. Kicking hard into the dirt, the Vanner charged forward, wrenching free from the boy's grasp and galloping across the field with his stick.
"RUSTY!", Julius yelped, running forward.
"'E jus' yanked free Mr. Edward!", Rusty panicked.
But Bullet didn't seem to be panicking at all. His head was high and his ears were set forward. After a minute of watching, Julius whistled, and colt slowed his pace and circled back. He stopped in front of Rusty and nudged his trainer.
"Crazy 'orse."
Julius shook his head, "I've never seen a horse take to pulling like that."

I'm trying to populate my stable, and since this fellow has both bloodlines and a major adorable awesome factor, I knew I had to go for him! His markings were tricky but I get the feeling that if I'm given the opportunity to practice with them a bit more, I'll get the hang of them pretty quick. ♥

And also, if you read the story, MEET RUSTY! 8D He's one of the other boarders at WCE, who I haven't found the right horse for yet, and thus the lad hasn't been properly introduced. ;-; But if I win Bullet here, that will change. 8D
