Description Hoy

I'd like to know what you think about the direction I've taken with this one and perhaps what you'd want to see changed.

Theres a few mistakes here and there, some parts doesn't play for as long as it should or not there at all etc... but I'm working on it. I need to know whether I should continue like this, and perhaps what you'd tweak with the instruments.

Really strong sound! Love this version! Maybe more the the original. Really nice layers of all the different types of sounds. Well done

Wow, this is one of the more complex OOT pieces, but you've got a really nice start I like the way parts of it are sort of echo-y, like a mariachi band is playing and the sound is bouncing off the canyon walls

I agree with one of the other commenters, the maracas would give it a little more snap.....I'd also like the guitar to come out a bit more, especially toward the end (it seems really soft after the loudness of the brass). I sort of miss the intro, but I understand that space, or a limited number of measures (if that's something you're having to work around) can be a challenge for things like that.

These are just a few things I thought of, but I can see how you want to do your own thing with it.....it's always cool to have subtle changes from the original, and sometimes they turn out to be even better

You chose the correct guitar! Congrats, few have really redone this song and succeeded with that one part alone. However, I'm not so sure I like the strings or the improvised intro. You might want to consider fixing those things whenever you sweep through to fix the timing. Let's see some more progress on this one! You may have picked one of the hardest songs to orchestrate, but I believe in you man!

Yeah the guitar is a important part of the track so I spent time to tweak it correctly, and I'm not so sure about the strings my self.

Oh I know its difficult to get right, I kinda did a try on this one back in jan last year and I ended up scrapping it.

It'll be hard, but you'll get it right. Repost as a WIP if you aren't sure.

My youtube account is lacking behind on progress, but!

On the player, if you click on the song and then click play, it should work. Give it a few secs to load the track. If it doesn't try to refresh the page and give it another go. Eventually things will end up on youtube though.

if you're going for an artistic flare, i'd say go ahead and add some of your own parts.
add some jazz, ya know, spice it up a bit!
i really like the way it's going~ it has the same sort of dormant energy that the other one has, but this one is more mistical, and i little less direct. it also sounds darker, but still not heavy.
anyway, if you add your own parts, i'd try to make it sorta 'flare up' in some parts, like druing 0:24-0:36... you could try to change the background entirely... maybe by fading the background and bringing out the melody- and i'd make it more crisp too-
but maybe you should add something to creshendo into 0:27 perhaps? that'd probably be a new part's job...
either way, you did really well around 0:50 with the intencity of the notes

oh and at 0:56... it'd be cool if leading up to that you gradually got it bigger and bigger, then you suddenly drop into the subtle qietness of the continueing theme (whatever you do, i'd bring out the guitar in that part that continues after 56)... going from ff to pp or something in that area...
i can feel the drop now... but i just think it'd be cool if that was really exaggerated~ if you're gonna go all out on this one

again... that's just if you want to go in another direction
and i really wouldn't know exactly what would work... but i hope that -maybe- i had some good ideas C:

but what happend to the marakas? that's the biggest thing... it's the part that really drives this entire song... i don't know how well you'd do with out them

anyway, i could give you an entire different set of suggestions if you want it to go somewhere else...
but overall, i -love- it! i can't wait until it's done!

I do like it, but it seems a lot more calm. The Valley theme made me feel like charging out and going on an adventure (possibly dancing all the way XD) I think this suits it more like... interpretive dance, softer and more flowing. Not saying make it harsh, but that the original...

When I was sneaking through the the sandy houses, every time I went outside I felt like the level of danger was dramatically increased because of the music that accompanied it. It wasn't frantic but like "Oh I hear it, they're around here, they're gonna get me if I'm not careful!" Adrenaline pumping sort of deal. THAT is what it felt like with the original song to me. IDK how to explain that in simpler words XD

I feel like this would only work for the valley at night. Gerudo Valley's theme, in my opinion, charged you with energy. It was capturing adventure; thieves and deserts, temples and lost treasure, with myth and danger lurking around every turn. It did start out slow, but it ended blaring.

That's my unprofessional opinion, though.
