"The Archaic period of Greece reigned from 800 BC to 480 BC. It is a period of ancient Greek history that followed the Greek Dark Ages. In this period in history human kind saw the rise of the polis or city-states, the founding of colonies, the annexations by the Persian empire as well as the first inklings of classical philosophy, theatre in the form of tragedies performed during Dionysia and written poetry. This I find most interesting in this period as this appeared with the reintroduction of the written language that was lost during the Greek Dark Ages."Related content
