Remember the Virtual Boy? I do. I thought it was one of the coolest systems ever when they had them out for demos and such. Because of the darkness, though, your eyes would get so used to the black and red that it was extremely disorienting when you had to leave back into reality. Looking back, it's a shame that Nintendo tried to pawn this off as a "portable system." That wouldn't happen until the Game Boy Pocket.As for the review, the Nerd actually goes through the ENTIRE Virtual Boy library with the exception of Jack Bros. (which he actually DOES review as extended footage in the 2008 Vol. 3 DVD).

: And to be fair, most of these games are okay, but they're the same kind of games you'd might as well be playing on a regular TV screen. I mean, they tried to take advantage of some of the 3D elements, but this wasn't called 3D Boy; it was called... VIRTUAL BOY!!! I mean, they didn't even attempt - they didn't even ATTEMPT - a virtual reality concept. What it needed was some first person shooter games, like DOOM; that would have been awsome! Now it's been about ten years, the technology has gotten better, but... no one really gives a shit about virtual reality anymore. And maybe, that's for the best.

I remember when the Virtual Boy first came out. I think I tried one out in a Blockbuster once and never tried one again. I also had one or two friends that owned virtual boys, although I don't remember if they ever complained about strained eyes. And then it just vanished, and I never thought of it again. I think the Nintendo 64 came out shortly afterward, and that overshadowed any memories I had with the Virtual Boy.
