Description Some stuff I did over the winter break awhile back. Sketches of Tyrion and Peter (who I did like until the end of GoT) from A Song of Ice and Fire. Tyrion=one of my favourite characters ever.

Har! Good job with Tyrion! He sort of looks like a dude from one of the lesser-known Disney films.

Who is the dude with the helm? The drooling one. Looks neither like Tyrion or Petyr ...

I think it was Petyr, actually. As a kid, when he fought for Cat and lost badly. Back when I thought he was actually kind of endearing and woobie-ish, instead of just plain evil and creepy. The drool was supposed to be blood, I guess.

I like how whenever they raise an eyebrow, the eye socket travels with it. Speaking of which, cocked eyebrows seem to be fashionable here. You seem to have trouble keeping Tyrion's cheek bulge in place. In the upper left version it's all near his mouth, in the lower left version it's risen to his cheekbone, and in the main picture, he barely has any.

Petyr's still the most interesting character in the series. How much DOES he control?

I like that you open a critique to someone you don't know with a snide, sarcastic remark. I draw in a very cartoony style (and lord, I can't believe I'm using the "style" defense)--eyes (and most everything else)are elastic.
Of course cocked eyebrows are "fashionable" here. These are the two snarkiest characters in the books who are constantly assured of their own superiority.

Secondly, I'd probably appreciate the rest of the critique more if these weren't sketches of me trying to decide how to approach drawing a character, instead of a final piece. Of course they'll look different to each other. But makes me wonder what you're seeing. A human face doesn't actually stay the same shape no matter what, especially the checks--that's where a lot of the emotion is. If you move your mouth, the cheek will bulge more or less, depending. Especially if you draw toony. Ah, moot point, because they're doodles, really.

Critique is fine. Random strangers suddenly critiquing doodles is...kind of rude. And kind of a waste of your time, unless you're trying for an ego-boost or something.

Petyr controls everything the Spider doesn't. And probably halfd of what he thing

Sorry you were offended by my snide, sarcastic remarks (though I do admit they were snide and sarcastic, and shouldn't have been).

Nothing wrong with a cocked eyebrow, especially on a character that is, as you put it, 'snarky', but when half your doodles have the same eyebrows, you may be in an 'expression rut'.

I didn't know you were trying different versions here, since the cheeks seem to be the only things that change. And while I agree that faces are malleable, the fat under your face doesn't simply float around.

I'm sorry you're offended by "Random strangers suddenly critiquing doodles", but when you put this on a site where anyone with an account can comment on anyone's pieces, I think you're asking for the input of strangers.

You're right, they are doodles (thankyou for putting them in 'scraps', almost nobody does), but even doodles need to be critiqued. ESPECIALLY doodles. Better to catch a problem early.

Lemme be clear here - if I didn't think that your stuff was already good, I wouldn't bother critiquing it.

Yeah, thanks for that. I'm still gonna disagree. Doodles are for fun. Doodles are often wrong. A good sketchbook has crap next to good stuff. I just put stuff in the scrap section that I have fun doing. Randomly critiquing a series of face sketches out of...everything...well, it just seems like an ego-boost, is all.

Input is one thing, but maybe I'm just used to critiques where people bother to let you know who they are; it just seems really abrupt to come in rude and go into critique, and if you come in rude (and you admit you did), be prepared to send people on the offensive.

Half my doodles...in the picture, or in the gallery, because if it's the first, again, it comes down to trying to get a feel for the characters. If it's the latter...oy vey.

Petyr was one of my favorite characters too until ... well, yeah. Still entertaining as hell though, if quite creepy. Love the expressions on both of them, and I like that Tyrion's age seems to be appropriate. Hope you do more!
