Okay..yet another really old character, but I had never actually drawn him out before. Here's Devilyn in his /huge/ Rottweiler/Siberian Husky hellhound form, another grandparent of most of my main characters, but on their mother's side.

This is where Chaos gets his coloration, wings, horns and other hellhound abilities and features, and where Demon has inherited her Siberian Husky markings -- and temper, but especially his shapeshifting, like both grandparents from their fathers' side.

Devilyn has to be one of my most detailed characters who has only ever been mentioned and never interacted with or..well, anything. He used to be seriously evil, doing the bidding of great sources of power -- mainly assassinating those he was told to, or just killing people who were working for the side of good that kept getting in the way of him and his masters' rise to power.

Though he was occasionally ordered to allow others to assist him and work at his side, he was always majorly a loner and had the unpredictable habit of preferring to play by his own rules, as there were few strong enough to keep him in check..at least, few who were that strong, yet still had use for an overgrown guard dog to be at their beck and call.

He mostly worked on commission, as it was a lot easier to hire him for something he wanted enough to work for than to try to gain his assistance through his own personal choice or whim, as he was too much of a wild card to entirely assume that he would be loyal enough to trust as more than a method of getting enemies out of your way or tying up loose ends.

For those who didn't want to get their hands dirty, however, he was a highly convenient weapon, as long as those in his company took great precautions to make sure they either had complete control over him, or that they presented no threat to him.

Although he would willingly work for those stronger than him without an offered reward if it got his foot in the door to being one step higher in the demonic hierarchy, he was only ever really willing to unconditionally obey those he truly cared for..mind, when you force yourself to be as isolated as he was, he honestly have too many to give a damn about.

I suppose his story really starts when he was sent to kill a mortal woman, for reasons that have little to do with him and thus shall not be elaborated on here, but upon stepping up to the task, he found that he couldn't go through with his orders. Long story short, he revealed his human form to the woman, and after quite a few long explanations, they fell in love.

Through this time, he hardly ever even had a reason to use his hellhound form unless he needed to protect her -- as not only the job of killing her hadn't been fulfilled, but a not small number of his former allies were none too pleased that he had decided to double cross them and switch sides, and either wanted revenge or had also been hired to take out him and his human mate.

One sucky thing, or perhaps not-so-sucky thing, depending on how you look at it, is that hellhounds are immortal, like a few of my other older characters, so he isn't going to die unless something finally manages to kill him..and believe me, that would be no easy task, with all of the strength and powers he has come to possess in his time.

Unfortunately, since his love was a mortal human being, she will, and that's why he left years ago, so he wouldn't be putting her in danger by making her a target alongside him. ..And so she could find someone else who /wouldn't/ still be thirty years old while she's in her late seventies or something. xDD

Maybe she already died, I'unno, but she's only used in my plotline because she didn't tell Devilyn that she was going to have his daughter before he left, and now she's the grandmother who 'forgot' to tell Demon, Chaos and Ruby's mother (her daughter) that her dad was an immortal hellhound. Thus far, she still doesn't know, and somehow still hasn't tapped into any of her own powers yet, either, assuming that her children received their supernatural abilities from their father, and not hers.

Anyway, in said plot, no one has seen or heard from Dev in years and years anyway, and he might eventually make a reappearance, but hasn't..as of yet. >3
And this is getting boring and rambly, so I'mma shut up now. Just look at the art and comment and stuffs, please. X3
..And ignore the awful prismacolor-black, I'm sticking with cheapass crayola from now on. It looks tons smoother, even if the rest of the colors look nicer to me. >>;;

Ohyeah, and I got the name idea from one of my favorite shows, Charmed, with the faction-building demon-guy with the muse-stealing ring..thingy, 'cause it's a wicked name and I rlyrly like it and I think it suits my hellhound pupper. o__o;;

Edit: Finally got disgusted with the scan quality to take the time to re-scan and clean it up before just slapping it on here. >>; Looks /much/ nicer now. =kicks scanner, which happens to be prejudiced against warm color tones= xDD
