Description
Illustration assignment for class:It is a common myth/belief that Germans were the first to utilize chemical warfare. This is far from the truth, as records from medieval China mention the use of mustard gas in 4th century BC.
So here are some little soldiers painted in the style of old Chinese paintings... with modern-day gas masks.
Note: The script says "Time Flies" and the red stamp acts as the artist signature/seal (it contains the Chinese characters for my name as well as a little dragonfly character).
Watercolor and India ink.
Prints are available (without watermarks)! Just note me!

This is WIN. I adore almost anything with gas-masks. The riders look wonderful! I love how you made the masks look ancient and modern at the same time.
The rest of the picture is wonderful too. Love that waterfall!

I'm glad you like the waterfall, because I wasn't pleased with how that part came out. XD So that at least let's me know it looks alright. ^^

Funny, yet beautiful.
Good job replicating the style. I have to do something similar for a book cover design.

The style is so much fun to do! Granted, the painters of old have had years to master it so I knew I wouldn't be able to get it nearly as good in one painting, but it was fun trying.
