Haha thanks, I used photoshop, for this particular work it was mostly using a square brush so something that looks like this ||. That was basically it. I did also use a round soft brush for some lighting and the water. Also used some of the small round brush for some details.
Practice I think should be being able to create shapes you want with almost any brush, round or square. I think that's the best practice. Brushes tend to get you carried away. They definitely help give nice effects but I think they shouldn't be relied on.
That's easy to say if you have a tablet, I didn't when I created this so I ended up using a mouse making things a lot harder. IF you have a tablet, the round hard brush itself with pen pressure is so much more versatile and you can do so much with a single brush whereas with a mouse alone takes a lot more time.

Could I advise on a few bits?
The horizon could be a bit sharper, it will add more definition to the image.
And a bit, just a bit more shimmer to the water. The rock faces have to have more dark in the anterior parts...
I know you're practicing, but this could turn out to be magical..
Complete it and my fav is guaranteed!!
