Description
painted a couple nerf guns to use in a game of Humans Vs Zombies. just took the stock nerf guns and added quite a few layers of paint. started off with spray paint and ended up using acrylics, rubbed on by hand.might get some better pictures of these once the sun stops being behind clouds and I get some decent light.

I was wondering, how long does it take to make something like this? What sort of supplies are needed and how much do they cost?

Takes a few days, but not long in terms of actual work. I was thorough in my painting, so I dismantled the guns, set the various parts on a large sheet of paper and spray painted. First coat was pure black primer, second coat was either brown or grey, depending on the gun. Those coats each took a day to make sure every part of the gun got painted and was able to dry thoroughly. After that I just took some regular acrylic paint to it, and that doesn't take long to dry at all. I painted it pretty quick and rough, so I'd say probably about 30 minutes to an hour for that step?
As for materials, it was somewhat expensive. I think it all cost me about $40? but you end up with WAY more stuff than is necessary for just two guns, so as long as you're into painting it's not too expensive.

you can duel wield... (id your worried about not being able to cock them) you can just tie strings to both the ends on the cocker... and pull them apart and it cocks... maybe use a chain as it will look cooler for your guns.... also i did the penny mod with 5 cent coins....

yeah, thought about the string/rope/chain thing to cock the guns, but honestly it'd be really awkward and difficult to arrange in any practical scenario, and even if it DOES work, it'd be much slower than just single-wielding and swapping guns when I run out of ammo.

quite a few, actually. shoots about double stock distance, though I didn't go to the crazy air-powered stuff, and I didn't alter the chamber to spin or come out any further.

Nice! The red/blue combo has gotta be really snazzy looking when you dual-wield!
We weren't allowed to mod our guns in ANY way. So I'm super jealous. Hope you have fun playing though!

oh wow. that is very lame. modding is the name of the game here. those two mavericks shoot about double their stock distance
as for dual wielding? I would LOVE to, however the way they're designed I can't. I AM, however, very tempted to come up with an arm harness sort of thing that'll allow for it...

Did you use the penny mod?
I think I may quickly mod it over break so the barrel pops out farther for next semesters game. *shifty look* Or buy one and just go haywire modding it for kicks!
What some kids at our school did was tie a rope in that hole on the ...clicky-back-part and tie it to the other and then wind it around the back of their waists. So they could shoot each Maverick by pulling it forward then back and alternating guns. I only saw one guy do it though. And according to the the internet it can shorten the gun-life.

that's basically the idea I was thinking, but with a shoulder-harness sort of situation instead of a rope around the waist. and yeah, I figured it might mess with the gun.
and actually, the penny mod is the only thing I DIDN'T do yet. I intend to but I was out of superglue while modding it and haven't felt like opening them back up yet.

Hhmmm. That'd be really awesome. If you succeed you'll have to post a picture up here! I'm sure legitimate Nerf gun shoulder harnesses are rare.
'Dawww. Superglue is like, the staple of everything. Superglue and duct tape.

It's a mod where you stick pennies in part of the gun to make it shoot stronger/farther. It involves taking the gun apart and can screw up your gun. I haven't ever done it but the instructions are online somewhere.

I assume it can be done with any similarly sized coins. You can always ask on forums.
