How do you get the effect with the broken clock flying into the air along with the dress effect?

photoshop, I used the polygonal lasso tool to cut small pieces of the clock, hten i used some 'crack' brushes to erase the edges of the clock pieces to make it more realistic...just played with brushes I think...
