You modelled this in Lightwave? Jesus, that must have taken forever.

3DS Max (my primary platform of proficiency) is more suited to box-modelling, so when I first started using Lightwave, I almost felt handcuffed. xD In my experience, Lightwave's better suited for smoothing/organic modelling; the degree of control it offers for Weight mapping meshes really did spoil me. xD Haha.

Actually... I felt it was the other way around... Lightwave reminded me so much of CAD, that it was the easiest of the modelling progs for me to pic up. The model took me about 3-4 days to do, at about 2-4 hours a day.

Did you use Maya system to make this by any chance?

No, I 3D model in Lightwave.

Oh, ok. I am currently learning Maya system. Still need to practice.

Maya is not a bad system.... I just like Lightwave as it has more of a CAD feel and doesn't use nurbs.

Ah, yes, I am still struggling with using the nurbs. I did see some 3d works which used a ZBrush system. Their 3d rendering is already similar to the real thing. I heard that it can only be used for modeling and not moving though.

ZBrush is still coming into its own at the moment. Your best bet would be to learn atleast one of the big hitters first, ie: Lightwave, Maya, 3D Studio Max, Calgari trueSpace, or Rhino. Once you can work one of those well, then you'll be ready to learn ZBrush.
