Hey guys, this is a character I'll be submitting here and will also be submitting into Expose 9 from Ballistic publishing. This is just for some comments and critiques on the background. Then I'll move it to my scraps. The character is done. I would like your ideas and thoughts on these backgrounds. This is for the company Medical Optics in the USA. I will do a proper credit and write up when I finalize the background.Here is the deal. I don't have time to work on it all that much, so I hope to keep it relatively simple. I like the idea of the benday dots on the far right, but I think these take the more futuristic clean sharpness away from the image. I like most of the colours, but am finding it difficult to choose one. I'm leaning toward the light pink, as this also ties in well with the pink lighting I have on her already.
By the way have a great holiday everyone. I'm off soon to travel round lower Japan for two weeks.

Excellent. That's the one I have decided on. Just need time now to do it properly. I have to re render the shadows as I noticed one of the feet isn't connected to it.

Cool design. Since it's for a medical company I'd stay with a cool color. I think the blueish green background looks good.

I like the light pink shades the best because she is very feminine. If you want her to look fierce I'd use the darker pink if you want her to look less like she's going to kick your butt, I'd go with the lighter shade, but either way it would be great if you could add the dots in the background and change the lights on her to match the background, I like the mix of futuristic and retro its more unique in my opinion.

Fair enough. Thanks for your comment, I really apreciate it. Its difficult to chose. I think all the colours work for their own reasons. I think just as its my style of doing robot, I might leave off the dots on this one. And I feel after a long hard think, that although you are very right about the pink making her feel more femanine, I think the pink makes the character a little more lost into the background. I thin I might go for the darker blue.

Each color will give her a different personality. Whatever you choose is going to look great

to keep the futuristic look and to blend it well with the pink i think that a sharp white light for the body highlights with an ambient pass to bring the details out but use a really soft light blue for the background. Mabey have it riding up a curved surface so it will disolve out to darker blue around the edges
