Stunning colours What was the shutter speed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ximo In reply to Greg-McKinnon [2007-09-25 23:46:20 +0000 UTC]

Couple of seconds only, no more than 5sec. It was too bright and I didn't want to stop it down to F20

Thanks.

The first thing my eye takes in is the overall composition.I've analysed this one to bits and it bugs me... the only thing I can think of is that its like two shots side by side in the frame.. the sunrise and the wave water shot. But to me its unbalanced. Technically wonderfull exposures and colours and tons of impact but.... thats me.

Hm. Interesting point that you are making (and I do appreciate that). Didi you consider that you are supposed to view this shot printed at least 1.5m wide? Because what you see here is not really what I wanted to show.. and different sizes change the view..?

Take me to your attic and show me your etchings! How big is your monitor?? I was looking at work on a 15 inch LCD... phew!

ximo In reply to Sun-Seeker [2007-08-24 10:25:31 +0000 UTC]

The LCD that I use isn't that bit (I think is 19" wide screen) so it doesn't do much more justice - but at least it is calibrated so the colors you see are the colors that are supposed to be when you print it. But the exhibition that I have is in the Deep Blue bistro on Coogee, so if you get a moment, stop by - you can see the two biggest ones from the street (hard to miss - it's just on the edge of coogee beach, where the sand ends. Nice but little pricey restaurant (if you would plan to stop and have something)

I was thinking about the 5.30am shoot on Sunday but my girlfriend is crazy and she wants to have her personal training at 8am - and she asked for it first (I mean, my car) so unless u are willing to pick me up from chippendale (broadway) I will have to pass this time;( but otherwise, I am 100% for it! La Perouse is amazing beach and I have some plans with it. If you would consider, call me on 0422735396

Okay, new favourite! This is breathtaking. I hope it finds it's way to a giant print on a wall somewhere. Love the rich colour, detail and depth.

That's the aim! Hopefully it will, my web-site is finally up and running (it was running but the gallery shopping cart didn't work properly) so now I have to establish new file system and start uploading and start marketing.. uhm.. life is sooo easy (or not?)

kylarsk In reply to ximo [2007-07-30 15:19:12 +0000 UTC]

Such a pain. I'm in the process of learning to sell stuff off websites also. Good luck with it all.

ximo In reply to kylarsk [2007-07-31 10:03:35 +0000 UTC]

Ah it's finished now so now it is up to me to upload the photographs and make the difference Creating and designing the web-site is ok as it is probably 15th version (for myself) but I couldn't do the shopping cart / gallery part as that requires lots more programming that I didn't do before - and I don't want to spend 2 years programming just to learn how to make one script for myself

So.. everything is good and better tomorrow

I love the balance to this panorama - how it's dark in the top left and light in the lower right. And the colors are gorgeous

Unbelievably beautiful, yet again! The colour and light is just spectacular and you've made really nice use of that long exposure. I really enjoy your work because you create absolutely beautiful landscapes, but they aren't at all cliched the way some landscape shots can become. Very nice!

ximo In reply to GreenEyedHarpy [2007-07-07 12:33:49 +0000 UTC]

See, that cliche thing, I am not sure if I will be ever able to create one as I see the world differently Maybe I was successful with some harbor bridge photographs in creating cliche.. ah, well. I will have to go and shoot opera house to get some more cliche photos, just to train that technique (joking)

..and I sincerely hope that it isn't only you

To be honest, I am trying to refine my style but in the end, all that I create comes from my heart. Not the brain, not the eyes and never the camera, they all only help.

ximo In reply to GreenEyedHarpy [2007-07-07 23:53:09 +0000 UTC]

Hm, I am not sure if I should blush or be upset but doesn't matter. Let's say that my thinking is different, formed elsewhere in the world and brought into australia. Very different from common folks, that much I have noticed.

Aren't all artists minds twisted?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GreenEyedHarpy In reply to ximo [2007-07-08 04:51:10 +0000 UTC]

Aw haha I was just teasing. It's wonderful to have artistic vision! Though, I'm not impressed with the 'common folks' remark!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ximo In reply to GreenEyedHarpy [2007-07-08 06:01:04 +0000 UTC]

But that's not what I meant (re: common folks) - I never said that there aren't any artists around, just that my background is very different and therefore I see things differently than most people living in Australia (or maybe not).

There are some great artists around here
