Description
Alexandrine parakeet
Native to India, the Alexandrine parakeet is named after Alexander the Great. There isn't as far as I know, a native population in Australia.
It must escaped from its owner. I've seen the parrot a few times lately. Their call is very distinctive.

She's okay.
She hasn't been out in a while - I suppose that's going to take time.

Thank you Lucy!
I haven't heard him close up, but I can hear him when he is in the bush opposite my place. He does two high pitch tweets. On the weekend, I heard him in the bush, so I went out and waited for him to appear. After about 15 minutes I saw him. I managed to get a few shots. That noise he makes is so distinctive. I hear it while I'm working. I've done a search of missing birds in the local area, but I haven't had any luck locating his owner. He must be surviving okay.

It was my pleasure Peter Your such a kind person to do a search
for any missing birds in the area, maybe he doesnt want to go back to
whoever owns him. Maybe he feels better free like they were meant to
be. I believe this is the one you told me about before? He must be surviving
okay. I like the sounds he makes.

They are valuable birds Lucy. (about $300-$600) I hope he hangs around for a while.

there in your garden. They are expensive.
