I saw on Equestria Daily that MA Larson was looking for fan art of this character... She was found on a Chinese menu somewhere. I thought she was kind of adorable, so I decided to do an image of her as a drawing/coloring exercise. I hope you all like it!Apparently this particular OC was called Krystal (although the chinese company was calling her Dim Sum) and the vector appears to have been taken by a chinese restaurant to use on their menus, which sort of sucks.

While I want to say that I'm not entirely opposed to this character, I strongly disapprove of the idea of her with Spike, as opposed to Rarity. People keep claiming that Spike needs someone "his own species and closer to his age", most namely because he's a "baby dragon". But really, despite being a "baby dragon", I've always thought of him as being about in his teens and only a few years younger than her as per physical years, since Twilight was only a filly when she hatched him. And also because dragons grow faster by their greed, and he usually isn't that greedy.
And no, I'm not trying to shove Sparity down anyone's throat, as I was accused of doing on someone else's Dim Sum deviation. Just expressing my disapproval and giving my headcanon.
In any case, this is really cute, especially the creature that's next to her. I really do like the art style here.

Personally, I ship Spike with Sweetie Bell coz she's more age-appropriate. In my mind Spike would maybe just realise one day that he loved Sweetie all along and Rarity was just an unrealistic crush. I haven't always shiped them but I've seen some lovely fan art of them and they're so cute together!!!

Well whatever. The fact that the haters are incapable of addressing the points I and Nickel-Storm made, but still want to call it out for what it appears to be, proves that they know we have some valid points, but don't want to admit it, so they either ignore them and/or bail out completely.

As far as the Rarity / Spike thing goes... I don't really know what to think about any sort of shipping... I don't really have a stance on it at all, to be honest! I think it's probably because I'm old and out of touch or something, lol!

I agree. She's cute, but I won't be shipping her with Spike anytime soon.
Here are my two arguments in favor of Sparity:
1. Donkey and Dragon was a thing in Shrek.
2.Β Sure, he's a "baby dragon," but he seems WAY too intelligent to be anything below 10 at least. There are "baby" Pokemon like Pichu or Magby, but they can be leveled to 100.
For those who argue about the age difference, I can understand. That's why I don't make Sparity art involving young Spike kissing Rarity or anything beyond that. I age him up for that that and prefer the fanworks that do that. I have fun with ships, but I don't campaign for them to be canon. I'm pretty sure Spike's crush on Rarity isn't going to become anything more. Just like Sonic/Amy and Ash/Misty.

But that's because dragons tend to grow faster by things like their greed, being placed in dilemmas (from what I was recently told), and having to survive in the wild (like most dragons, from what I read some time back) and Spike really isn't that greedy, nor has he faced anything super dangerous, and he was raised by ponies. So I definitely think he's older than he looks. But I still get where you're coming from.

Yes, he's a baby dragon, we get that. But that's in dragon years. In physical years, he's likely in his teens, for all the reasons I just gave. Now I'm aware they'd have to have him grow/age (probably through any of the forementioned ways) before and if it were to happen, but even that may not be entirely out of the question. It would probably actually make for a good plot. Spike goes on a quest/journey, (something like Dragon Quest, except with a deeper plot) and returns a full-grown dragon. I'd personally like to see something like that.

Mhmm, yes, you actually make a good point, but I actually doubt they'd make the perfect plot. The writters have demonstrated that they cannot write a Spike episode that will turn out THAT good, but I'm guessing that's up to interpretation.
Myself, I actually would like to see Sweetie Belle and Spike together, altough I don't think it would happen, I'd like to think that the plot would go something like this (Please be warned, this started with an idea and then it grew into me writting a mini-episode in my head, I am trash, I apologize):
Sweetie Belle starts to show signs of a crush on Spike after Rarity starts to have small meaningless dates with random stallions, making Spike jealous, prompting him to try to "up his game". The crush starts to grow and she starts to grow a little and Sweetie Belle grows more and more desperate, even trying to convince the CMC to let Spike into the group, even if he can't get a cutie mark.
This would of course go on the background of a few episodes up to the point where Spike finally notices something's up and Sweetie Belle asks him to go out on a picnic with her (cue the makeover scene) (also Β Applebloom and Scootaloo would tag along and would hide in the bushes).
Spike would then accept it, thinking little of it, only to find out a completely dressed up Sweetie Belle (with her mane just like Rarity's),with a fancy dress and lipstick and all of that fancy makeup.
He starts to interrogate her a bit and she breaks down, telling him that she "likes him a lot", and because of all the attention he was paying to Rarity, she tried to be like her so he could like her more. Spike would say that the just needed to be herself and the episode would end with the "be yourself" moral of the story and with Spike telling Sweetie that he would be happy to take her out sometime.
Jesus Christ, that's sappy and sounds a lot like a fanfiction. Oh well.
Sorry you had to read that. It's just like what I would like to see done in the show, provided they knew how to write romance properly.
By the way, I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm forcing my ships on you. I don't want it to sound like that, because our ships have the same probabilities of being in the show, let's be honest, and if anything, yours does more than mine!

Yeah, she's aware of it. The community came through and told her. MA Larson posted something about it as well on his Twitter to make sure people are aware of what happened.
I'm not sure what action is being taken if any, it really sucks that the menu company did that. :/
