Ahhhh some Pokemon fanarttt woohoo!
This is an Ultra Guardian Lana and her Dragonair piece I've been working on! The original file name was "Ponyta" because after the announcement of Galarian Ponyta I was excited to make some art of it, but I was really inspired after watching some Pokemon Sun and Moon. Seeing Dragonair fly and extend the wings on it's head... I was like GORGEOUS *o* so I had to draw it of course lol. I've always been a fan of most serpent Pokemon and Dragonair is no exception xD
I'm definitely more inspired lately to do more backgrounds and test out new brushes and colors for some reason. Not going to complain though, it beats having an art block for sure. I've also been thinking about doing some more speedpaints, but let me know what you think or if you have any idea's or suggestions for any future videos. I really would love to get back into making speedpaints so I would really love some feedback!

I am from ProjectComment 's Weekly Commenting project and I am here to give you some constructive feedback on your artwork.
First of all; this backdrop looks amazing!
Your piece is full of dynamism with the additional indications of wind and particles swirling around, what a subtle but powerful tool to add this effect to your piece!
The clouds are all painted and rendered very well, the outer bloom on them looks like they're melting while achieving a great focus on your figures. While the composition and alliance of the clouds looks dynamic as well as harmonic. It does not look like any of the sides is more dominant and the free middle space makes a great backdrop to whatever figures can be placed there.
In regard to your figures, it is good to see they all stay in the same colour spectrum. I like artworks that have one dominant colour for a theme and this is definitely one of them. The reddish skin also works as a wonderful focal point given that it is placed in the centre of the image and surrounded by complementary colours.
My only concern about this piece is how you portrayed the objects of your artwork; the guardian Lana and her Dragonair. The way they're facing is very loose from the viewer where I think you had a very nice opportunity to show them in a frontal view. The way you have portrayed them seems like you wanted to have an easy take on drawing the whole Dragonair. And while the rendering is fantastic, it looks more static and bland than the rest of your great image suggest.
I'd have tried to portray them either in a sideview and perhaps flip the canvas to the right or portraying them, flying sort of to the top right from the front, showing their expression and giving another reason for the viewer to get drawn to the piece and get the sense of excitement and adventure out of it.
My suggestion and tip for the future is to try very different takes on the perspective and pose of your figures before you stick to something specific... I often draw multiple takes on something to eliminate potential bad concepts and make sure the idea profits from the best take on that idea.

The one thing I will mention about the position is that in the anime there is a scene where the Ultra Guardians fly away from the camera, which is what inspired me to have them facing away from the camera in a non-direct way. I do agree, there are different ways I could've portrayed them to have some facial expression to add more emotion to the piece.

I really like this piece out of many reasons: the composition, the use of color and the story-telling content included in this painting.
Let's start with the composition: the dragon generates a clear line in this piece and leads the viewer to see across the entire painting. Good job.
The colors used here are primarily blue and white; although the girl and the dragon are blended well with the background, they somehow still stick out and can be clearly distinguished.
With the girl and the dragon headed to a certain direction towards the sky, the storytelling element is complete.
All in all I really like the hopeful and positive vibe of this piece, and it affects the viewer in a similar way.
The only bug I'd point out is that there might be to much clouds in the left bottom area, where it appears a bit blurred out.
