HOW TO :

1. Wallpaper
Walking 2
(Thanks to LifeHacker for uploading it)

2. Icons : Litho
I changed them with CandyBar

3. Calendar
I use Dateline
See my configuration here

4. Bowtie :
Fragmented theme

5. Geektool :

5.1. Dock background image :
(thanks to TuXChemistry )
Download it here

5.2. Clock : hours
Create a new console geeklet
Style : Caviar Dreams Bold, size 144, RGB : 65/65/59.
Refresh time : 60 seconds.
Command :
date +%H
5.3. Clock : minutes
Create a new console geeklet
Style : Caviar Dreams Bold, size 144, RGB : 215/137/47, opacity : 60%.
Refresh time : 1 second.
Command :
date +%M
5.4. Day
Create a new console geeklet
Style : Caviar Dreams Bold, size 24, RGB : 215/137/47, opacity : 60%.
Command :
date +"%d"
5.5. Month
Create a new console geeklet
Style : Caviar Dreams Bold, size 18, RGB : 65/65/59.
Command :
date +"%B"

6. Menu bar :
I turn it black with Aqua Extreme theme.
You can have white infos on the right (battery, time...) with iStat Menus. You have to hide original ones.

7. Orange ribbon : (credits : Ribbon Color Mods )
I cut the orange ribbon into two images. One is replacing Apple's logo, the other is a geektool image.

First open ThemePark and click on Edit sArtFile. Look for an image which has the index 61. Replace it with the following file with a drag and drop : [link]

Then with Geektool add an image geeklet with the following image. [link]
Place it under the previous one, but don't tick "Keep on top" so that it won't bother you when you have a window opened or something full screen.

Ask me anything.

Is anything like this at all possible in OSX 10.8.2, now? =/ I have tried candybar, Apple have removed most of the important abilities it had.

Amazing work! I love the bottom cut out! Would it be possible for you to do a how to on it? or maybe even some type of template?

Keep up the great work!

Thank you ! The bottom cut out is not mine ! What do you call some type of template?
That's really easy to make with Photoshop. Here you can find a little explanation : [link]

Awesome! Thanks for the link! Did you use a source for your grey or just the noise tool?

XLooo In reply to rushikh [2011-05-17 07:41:02 +0000 UTC]

I made it black with Aqua extreme and I added the orange ribbon with Red Ribbon Color Mods. (see links above)

Nicely done. This is inspiring to try customizing my own desktop. I used to do it a lot until snow leopard and it disabled my primary program I used to skin my desktop. Could you tell me how you skinned your top menu bar and apple icon? Thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

XLooo In reply to dotcommer [2011-05-17 07:36:34 +0000 UTC]

Sure ! I made it black using the Aqua Extreme theme. (I use Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and it works)
You can find it here
For the orange ribbon I use Red Ribbon Color Mods .
I cut the orange ribbon into two parts : the first one replace the ressources 61 and 62 in sArtFile.bin (with ThemePark) and the second one is placed on the desktop with geektool.

I'll make a how to for the whole desktop soon.

XLooo In reply to CokCok [2011-05-15 22:41:19 +0000 UTC]

CokCok In reply to XLooo [2011-05-16 08:29:35 +0000 UTC]

XLooo In reply to CokCok [2011-05-16 09:25:30 +0000 UTC]

CokCok In reply to XLooo [2011-05-16 21:36:50 +0000 UTC]

yeahhh, well I get bowtie and dateline are all apps.. which I have and I assume the grey area is just a part of the desktop but do you know any good places to learn to use geektool3?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

XLooo In reply to TheSeventhArete [2011-05-15 22:45:10 +0000 UTC]

On my previous desktop deviation, [link] I explain how to set up geektool.

Here, I use a font called Caviar dreams (bold), size 144 for the clock. I play with opacity, tell me if you want to know the code color and which opacity.

The grey part is an image I added with geektool too. I can upload

TheSeventhArete In reply to XLooo [2011-05-16 00:01:05 +0000 UTC]

ahhh k I see, so they are all moveable? and can I make a geektool image play sounds on clicks like flash buttons? lol im seeing how the clock works and its cool, its like programming in dream weaver kinda..

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

XLooo In reply to TheSeventhArete [2011-05-16 09:44:23 +0000 UTC]

You have to download and install Play Sound ([link] )

and then in your applescript file :
tell application "Play Sound"
play "HD:System:Library:Sounds:Glass.aiff" repeat 1
end tell

You have to use a shell geeklet, the trick would be to put an image geeklet in the background and the shell geeklet above it. I have not tested it and I don't know how to detect the onclick event.

XLooo In reply to TheSeventhArete [2011-05-16 15:13:36 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome ! But I really don't know whether you can use onclick events with a geeklet...

TheSeventhArete In reply to XLooo [2011-05-19 01:55:28 +0000 UTC]

haha turns out ya cant, but no problem, I have a nice facebook notification box and summer countdown atm along with a clock date and batterylife%...

XLooo In reply to TheSeventhArete [2011-05-19 07:08:41 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for your feedback! Sorry you can't but geektool's awesome you're right

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

XLooo In reply to TheSeventhArete [2011-05-16 09:40:22 +0000 UTC]

Sure they are all moveable !
I think it is possible to play a sound on click but you have to use Applescript.

Take a look at this [link]

It might help you, this one allows to play a sound on startup.
