Amazing. I think that it is far more easy with Vue!

Great! I would also like to see the mesh and to know the size of the file.

xmas-kitty In reply to slepalex [2015-04-12 00:29:55 +0000 UTC]

Thank you Alexey!
The size of the Bryce scene is 260mb.
I made just a little tutorial how the rocks were made.
There you can see a wireframe.

slepalex In reply to xmas-kitty [2015-04-12 10:57:52 +0000 UTC]

260 MB is a lot!
I would do the following. I'm doing a complex rock in the Wings with different views from 4 sides. Then clone it into Bryce (Ctrl + I, Alt + I) and rotate a certain angle. It will look like a different rock. The file size can be reduced 10 times.

xmas-kitty In reply to slepalex [2015-04-29 23:43:07 +0000 UTC]

This is actually what I already did. There are just 2 different rocks in the scene.

Or one could just forget about bryce and russian minimalisms, and do the same with watever multimillion polygons in blender + terragem ... lol ...

This people ...

slepalex In reply to SOULSSHINE [2015-04-30 15:16:59 +0000 UTC]

Well, I do not, however! If a person believes in Jesus (Bryce), then change it to Allah (Vue, Blender, etc.) - do not need to be convinced! Maybe Islam (Terragen) more advanced religion, but we are not changing our faith!
Blender is good for simulation, I tried it once, I hope I will still try.

It's wrong to compare these programs with religions!
I really don't believe in Bryce, I know its limitations.
And I think it will not longer supported and it will pass away before long. It's just the program I have the most experience, though not as much as you.

It's not a problem for me to use different programs and I'm on the way to learn Blender.

Be sure I'm on the way to learn Blender.
The program is very complex and my first results are still not presentable.

SOULSSHINE In reply to xmas-kitty [2015-05-06 20:18:20 +0000 UTC]

You can Send me those Not Presentable scenes ... And i can see what i can do then Record step by steps what i done and send it back at you !

BUT HAHA Not even MINE are presentable ! Blender is a monster ! But can be also the best program there is !!

But a Cool trick : Use all BlendSwaps SCENES you can ! www.blendswap.com/blends/categ…

We learn alot by opening and seeing How things are done in others scenes ...

In fact i think is the very best way to learn !!

Thats the handsomeness about open source !

Everyone sharing everything ...

And teaching with examples

That we can open and test

Thats one of many whys

Blender Its just so amazing !

EVen if you dont know

What you are doing !

Muahahahaha

xmas-kitty In reply to SOULSSHINE [2015-05-06 20:46:36 +0000 UTC]

A suggestion.
Try to create a good subsurface-scattering material in Blender.

Take this model:

the body is jade (nephrite; greenstone) and the eyes mother-of-pearl.

Jade is a classic of sss.
You'll find a lot of reference if you search for photos of Hei Tiki.

(they are all wonderful, I wish I had such a little gem for real )

  Hehe ...

Its Taking a Litle bit longer ( as usual ... )
I even forgot to count the hours on this one ...

But i am saving all step by steps screenshots ^^
SO i can make tutorials if you have doubts .

I have made already 12 GemStones Materials ... Just on the Jade ...

Iv Been checking on google images ..And actually there is in Reality Way Many Types of Jade !
And i started very simple ... and after many hours i have already many nodes around ...

And let me say those GEM Stones ( nephrite; greenstone ) and ( mother-of-pearl. )
Are quite difficult and i bet even a pro would have problems to make them more exactly ...

So i will have to keep trying and trying and trying ....
Untill i have literally hundreds Materials ...

And then from all those We Chose the bests.

A good thing is that Im Saving All Step by steps ...
As soon as i have a different material i save it in anew Blend file ...

This way you will get instead of Just 1 ! Many Hundreds ! Materials !
I WIll be trowing at you The ManY Dozens Blend Files With the Results so far ...
For you to play around ^^

As the file is very huge...
... just to try understand your approach. Did you create many rocks in Wings3d (maybe multiple files) and then imported into Bryce and duplicate and reshape then, or create the entire rocks in the scene in Wings3d?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

xmas-kitty In reply to Micheuss [2015-04-29 23:51:52 +0000 UTC]

There are actually two different rocks.
The rock-arch and the other one; multiple duplicated and horizontally as well vertically rotated.

In the meantime I created much more rocks in Wings3d.
It's easy, effective and really quickly done.

Very well done! I've heard about Wings3D, does it work well? Anyhow, I think the bushes look great, as well as the subtle mist in the background.

Thanks for the info, and the watch. Blender can be used fro great stuff, if you don't like the modeling you can use Wings3D and render your stuff in Blender.
