kind of looks like to me, the right bit of the wood is a person, waiting on the beach, for years, slowly turning into a petrified fear or there one and only not returning, wile nature tries to slowly take them away

In capturing these images, is the filter that you use really instrumental? I have a Sony Alpha 100, 10.2 megapixel with a 18-70mm and a 70-300mm lens. I was just wondering how you get such an interesting effect on these pictures, and in particular, how you capture the sky.
