Description Yes I know I'm not quite the person to do stamps, especially ones like these. I had some muse to try this out, only because of today. Stamps are cute, I'll make them if I had actual inspiration. So sorry for it being so.. boring but I like it clean. Submitting this to a bunch of groups so I can get an opinion on how people like it.

But I'm in school today, right? I take AP World History, and if anyone doesn't know it's Advanced placement (college level) course a high schooler can take. So that's nice and all, and my teacher is someone who well... you can tell she's not deeply religious. She said she's had no religion before and she is not insulting in any way, I kind of find her funny, because I'm pretty much one of the only non religious people in the class (in the school too). She'll make little comments and her tone of voice is very funny when we talk about religion.

So we're talking about the Enlightenment period, and this was a time when the Catholic Church was under a lot of pressure. My teacher was explaining how the church really did use people for their money, was corrupt, and forced people into many religious wars. And then when the topic of the philosopher Voltaire came up (he was a huge critic of religion, calling the church ignorant and so forth) people in the class commented how he was gonna burn in hell and people like that are stupid.

So I'm sitting here thinking, and I think. "Wow, religion is a huge troll!" Thus, this stamp was born.

So many people die for their faith, so much corruption is in the church, so maybe people shove their beliefs down everyone's throat, even to extreme ways by killing them. The Crusades? Seriously. Why can't we have religious tolerance? Seriously, is it so hard to respect people?

This can be interpreted many different ways. So yes, this is my opinion! No, I don't have any problems with anyone religious I have many religious friends and respect those who are. This is my opinion.

edit: I'm getting a lot of group requests on this, thank you for those. xD

> "Then you have nothing to argue about muslims, if holy books are supposed to be taken WORD for WORD. "
...No, son, then you have nothing to argue. You said so yourself you're basing everything of off what you HEARD the Quran said. If YOUR HOLY TEXT is allowed to have mistakes and allowed to be disregarded in some parts, so is theirs.

> "Ahuh, and what church were these people from?"
Countless. Your religion is splintered to the nth degree. I can't say I've heard all sides because that's literally impossible. But from all the three major categories: Catholic, Protestant, and Greek Orthodox.

You told me to read Episcopal. You can't READ an abstraction.

> "Some would see it that way, some wouldn't."
"I'm too mysterious for you to understand".

> "By the way, the Abyss, is another word for Hell (actually translated from Hades, which is greek, which was borrowed by the Jews)."
No. Hell is not a part of Judaism, it is no where in it. Hell is from the Roman Hel, a copy of the Greek Hades. Hades WAS NOT borrowed from the Jews, it is not anything like the Abyss or the Eternal Sleep (the two Jewish afterlifes - the second was for nonbelievers). The Abyss is simply that, an abyss, and only privileged bad guys went there. You know nothing of mythology.

> "That is, again, the Old Testament. Which is the entire reason God came to Earth, as Jesus, in the first place. Also, the New Testament clearly states that Satan and the Devil are the same being."
What the hell are you talking about?
The New Testament calls Satan a devil, as in a scoundrel and a jerk. It also calls a lot of other sorts of people devils. It's a favourite word.

> "All taken from the teachings of the Old Testament profits. I don't know who you think is right, but I'm going to listen to God himself."
Jesus didn't write the New Testament. God was supposedly the one who told people to write both of them. Well, actually, Jesus didn't tell anyone to write anything, the disciples just recorded shit like a bunch of grad students.
PS: You do realize that Luke, Peter, and Revelation are NEW Testament, right? And, of course, again, nothing in the New Testament relates Lucifer to Satan. Nothing I said was wrong, at all, your own NT and OT even say so.

> ""Idiot" One more insult, one more hypocritical act. (Claps)"
Lol, so I called you a hypocrite so now you're turning to "NO U!".
No, dear, again, it doesn't work - because you came here to act high and mighty and got your toes stepped on, then complained about it. I'm calling you a hypocrite because you're criticizing and complaining about things you've actually caused and committed yourself.

> "I thought you were going to say something like that. That is one of the places where Jesus tells the people, to actually follow their beliefs (if that is what they are), instead of ignoring them, and being hypocrites."
Oh? Where? 'Cause it seems to me, "Believe in God's word. Don't believe in your made-up shit. Why aren't you doing what Moses said? You're killing me!"
"He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; bug He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him"
People who believe in Jesus's words are righteous and true. People who speak their own beliefs are only seeking their own glory.

> "I said, he is not judgmental, but merciful. He still judges, he is God."
That's a contradiction, child.

> "But, we are not called to judge someones soul; we don't have the right, power, or authority to do so. That is what I ment."
...That's not what the passage said. It said, righteously judge.

> "(Instead of focusing on grammer, why don't you actually stay on the subject, like any other rational person would.)"
...You fucking moron. I wasn't criticizing your grammar. I was pointing out it was not used as a proper noun, therefore was not a name. He isn't The Devil, he is a devil.

> "You know what context I'm using it in. And it is the name of the Evil One."
Show me where it's declared as Satan's name.
Oh, PS, those articles no where said Satan created evil.

> "I'm definitely not a friend of any Atheist (or at least not the vocal jerks), but I don't hate them."
Yeah, you're a piece of work all right.

> "It wasn't ment to spite you. I literally ment what I said. But, if thats how you took it, then I have a question: What's wrong with you?"
If you're debating with someone, know they don't agree with your beliefs, call them ignorant quite a few times, then claim you're praying for them, that will naturally be taken as an antagonistic act. Especially in the way you said it. If I were to say I was praying to Satan for you after all this, how would YOU take it, hm?
What's wrong with YOU in thinking I need praying for, just for disagreeing with you and pointing out flaws in your religion?

I'd have responded more eloquently but I didn't feel like explaining to such a hateful asshole about how the Muslims actually treated the Christians and Jews in their empire pretty damn well and how the European Christians were the aggressors in the Crusades or how technically that land really doesn't belong to any one religion more than any other because it's holy to Muslims too and they have just as much right to practice their religion as anyone else, you blithering dipshit.

You sure as fuck implied it.

The point of the matter here is that you have no real grasp of history or the Islamic religion, because if you did, you'd know that the Muslims treated the Christians and Jews in their empire pretty damn well, and that Islam actually specifically preaches tolerance toward the other Abrahamic religions, and that the Islamic Middle East was pretty much the center of knowledge and culture while Europe fell into the Dark Ages, and that Jerusalem is where Muhammad is said to have ascended to heaven at the Dome of the Rock, now the site of one of the most beautiful mosques in the world, so yeah they have just as much right to live in and worship in that city as Jews and Christians, so yeah, you really don't know what you're talking about.

ThornheartCat In reply to GalenMareksAprentice [2012-05-31 21:24:11 +0000 UTC]

Their religion does not tell them to be violent, it tells them the exact opposite! And the way they treat their women is indeed WRONG, but that's not so much a religious thing so much as it is a cultural thing. Muhammad's wife was extremely involved in his life and work and he treated her as his equal!

Also, the Bible says some pretty despicable things about women too! It's not a case of "oh well their religion says this" so much as it is a case of "a lot of people are taking their religion word for word and are refusing to adapt to a changing culture and world"! Which, incidentally, a lot of Christians are doing too!

It's pretty sad to see so many non-Christians getting confused from the Old Testament too. Christianity was created, when Jesus started to preach his teachings to the masses, and his disciples. The Old Testament is JUDAISM. I learned Christianity from Christ, not Moses, Noah, or any other Old Testament profits. Really? Thats not what this says --> [link]

Well whats the point of believing in a religion you know teaches wrongs? Obviously if a God created us, it would have been out of love, just as a baby is born out of love. And I doubt he would teach us to do wrongs, in order to join him, if he loved us. The one that teaches love is the true religion, and that is why I am a Christian.

Christian, (Christ-ian). Definition: Follower of Christ aka Jesus

ThornheartCat In reply to GalenMareksAprentice [2012-06-01 01:18:02 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I like how how you're implying that sexism only exists in the Old Testament. "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve." -1 Timothy 2:11-13

And Islam does not TEACH wrongs! And people make their (not always born of love) children do bad things all the time to join them, and if God's also sort of everyone's daddy, then why can't he? Also, just because a religion preaches love doesn't mean it's true. Love ≠ truth.

And indeed. Jesus was a chill guy. I think he had the right idea when he told everyone to chill the fuck out and be bros. I wish more people would just listen to him. :C

GalenMareksAprentice In reply to ThornheartCat [2012-06-01 02:03:04 +0000 UTC]

Ok, look. Jesus IS God. Jesus was God in human form. He descended to Earth, to teach us how to worship him, since the Jews were not teaching the truth. He is the source of all good, he is perfect in every way, he is God. Therefor, he wouldn't teach his children to do wrong. everything wrong is from the Devil. He would not have any of us do a deed for the Devil.

Adam & Eve is a Jewish myth. It is not one of Christs teachings.

Think about it, what sounds more like a true religion to you? One that teaches wrongs, or one that teaches right?

I'd like to ask you something. Where did you learn about Islam?

ThornheartCat In reply to GalenMareksAprentice [2012-06-01 15:15:04 +0000 UTC]

God that has always confused the hell out of me because how can God be his own son that's just really really confusing. And if God is so perfect then why doesn't he just kill the Devil (who isn't actually all that amazing or the ruler of Hell or even close to God's power)? I mean seriously what the hell is he waiting for?

And um it's mentioned a buuuunch of times in the New Testament, so...

And again: goodness ≠ truth! This is so beyond a logical fallacy I cannot even

I've learned about it from school, books, the internet, friends! What about you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GalenMareksAprentice In reply to ThornheartCat [2012-06-03 06:39:52 +0000 UTC]

When God descended to Earth, he became human, and was given the name Jesus. Jesus taught about God, prayed to God, and called him his father; even though he was God. It is confusing, but, he is God: the creator of the Universe, after all. There is: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. But, there is only one God, not three separate beings. I know it's confusing, I don't completely understand it either. But, maybe that's because I haven't asked anyone who does understand. But, even if no one does know the answer, it still makes sense, considering, we as humans, probably couldn't understand God, unless, it was someone who was very close to him, spiritually; which, there have been many throughout history.

If God didn't destroy the Devil, there must be a reason. Tell me, would you question the actions of the one who knows everything? I certainly wouldn't. I'm just an ignorant teenager, who hasn't even finished school yet. And I still wouldn't question him 30 years from now. But, he has said, "Love your enemies.", and he loves all of his creation. He created the Devil didn't he? Maybe thats the reason. And as for everything else about the Devil. Where are you all getting this? He is the ruler of Hell. Hell was created by God, as a place for Satan, and his demons, to remain, after they rebelled against him. And, Satan isn't nearly as powerful as God, but he is far more powerful than any human. That is why we need to ask for God's help, when we are attacked by Satan.

Jesus never taught that as one of his teachings though. It was taught by some Old Testament profit, and because of it's nature, they were obviously deceived. The Old Testament, Judaism, and the thinking that God was judgmental, is the entire reason he came to Earth, to teach people how to worship him in the first place.

Well, even still. There are many things that can prove Christianity is the truth. People just tend to excuse them

I learned from history, Smithsonian, National Geographic, Obsession: Radical Islams War Against the West [link] Mosab Hassan Yousef [link] [link] [link] [link] , other muslim converts [link] , and the Quran itself.

Eh, my headcanon God is still this.

And dude, number one rule of like, life: always always always question authority. Don't just do or believe what someone tells you to without seriously thinking about it! Not to say that you haven't, I just think that the idea that we shouldn't question God even if he's kind of screwing us over is kind of silly. And I'd say that letting Satan run around and spread evil would count as screwing us over if he is indeed doing that.

And what proves it, out of curiosity? Last I checked there wasn't any proof about the truth of any religion.

........................?

This is mine. [link]

One of the big points of believing in God, is to have faith in him.

"Because of your belief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
"However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."- 17 Mathew 17:6-20

You wouldn't question someone you put your faith in, to the point that Christians do. No one knows, and no one can know all the answers about him. God is mysterious. Maybe it's beyond our understanding, since he is perfect, and we are flawed.

Like I said, some people just write them off. But, science has never been able to explain any of it.

Eucharistic Miracles:

Incorrupt bodies of saints. (Science couldn't explain this and the above, is what I ment.)

I don't think it is a coincidence, considering, he could probably kill himself doing something like that.

I'm agnostic, but that has absolutely no means onto my theories about dealing with people. I like to think I express religious tolerance and hey! Guess that's what this stamp is about. For everyone to treat every religion with tolerance and respect, despite their own personal beliefs is what I'm going here. Agnostic is my own set of beliefs, and I am not forcing them on anyone. Judging me based on my own set of beliefs is exactly what I'm talking about-- you are expressing biases and hate. And if you don't think you're hateful, let me quote you:

t started when the Muslims, (men of a religion born from hate)

If you had done your history reading like you said you were, you would know Islam is one of the most peaceful religions out there! And if you're quoting the Koran, you must be taking it word for word. Well yeah, in Bible there's a lot of violence too. Selling slaves is okay, treating women like dirt is okay... all that stuff. I have personally not read the Koran, but am not stupid enough to take any "holy" book word for word, as we do not in today's society. If we did, we'd try to kill everyone we meet, no?

Once again, personal beliefs =/= how you should treat others.

Alright, new approach. What exactly led you to believe Islam is a peaceful religion?

And, what I meant earlier was, you don't have a religion, so you couldn't look at it from the point of view that someone who does have a religion, sees it.
