Really nice gradients - good and unusual colour combinations!
Nice to see some Ultrafractal work every now and again, Apophysis seems to dominate the fractal scene at the moment IMO, not that it is a bad thing - just an observation.
Have you looked at Visions of Chaos? really nice fractal program there too.

Thank you for the comment. I don't know that Apophysis is "dominant," but the users of each of the popular fractal programs seem to cling to their own types of work. I just like the advanced layering and sophisticated image alteration available in Ultrafractal, so have been using it preferentially for some time. Have not tried Visions of Chaos.

I LOVE THIS FRACTAL!
I came to look at your gallery (thanks to the feature you were given) CONGRATS on placing in the contest
I LOVE your art This is the only pic that's a large file (at least 1024 X 768) that does not have your name in a distracting location for me to enjoy.
Keep a smile on

As your journal conversation with another artist notes, when we post large files, it's easier for people to steal our art. Most of us don't care when someone downloads something for their own use, but there are many "consolidators" on the Internet who download pictures for resale to others. This has been a continual problem on DeviantArt and many fractal artists have found their pieces for sale on web sites without their permission. We've discussed this issue extensively in our mailng lists.
The only reason this piece doesn't have a prominent signature or watermark is because a viewer goaded me into posting it in this larger format. I later found it on a Russian site selling it as a screen saver.

ohnooooo such a wonderful fractal, utterly destroyed by jpeg in the fullview (<60kb for a 640x480 image?!)

Thanks for the design complement. You've probably noticed that no one steals your stuff when it's lower resolution.

i would be terribly flattered if someone would care that much about my works...
the thing is though, at lower resolution (and it's not the resolution that's the problem here, just the sheer mangledness that results from jpeging with quality 1) no one even gets a chance to appreciate the work, let alone build up the desire to steal it, so it's kinda not worth doing.

Point well taken. I'll try to replace it with a higher resolution jpg in the near future. I've usually tried to rememer that some people still have dial-up and try to keep file sizes withing reason, but in this age of broadband that's becoming less and less of a consideration.

i hope i wasn't being too pushy about it :/ please know i have yours and the fractal's best interests at heart
there are two related issues: resolution and quality. even if you make the image itself bigger, the quality needs to get turned WAY up from this one. even with dialup 500kb isn't so bad- believe me, i've only recently moved to adsl because i live in the single worst country in the world for internet

I've reposted the image. Although it's slightly bigger, the resolution is higher. On my monitor, running 1680 x 1200 on a 21 inch montior, the various parts are very clear. Let me know how it comes out on yours.
