it depends on how much Magical energy or impact he gets from an attack he can absorb after doing that he falls asleep , he sleeps to neutralize what he absorbs , he has to wake up on his own if not than he could die from the pain he should have felt before

-when he was a kid his mother got into a accident and he first found out his powers but when he fell asleep after he used them. His mother tried to wake him which caused him to lose half his face for the damge remaining from her injury!~
