You were upset when you walked into the lunchroom. It’s not like you wanted a huge fist dent in your locker, or some crazy girl thinking that you’re trying to steal her supposed ‘cool kid boyfriend’. It’s not like it was your fault that Dave and Karkat had made a deal so that you could be protected from the older kids. In your opinion, you thought it was a nice thing, but you just guessed that Vriska did not.

You took a seat next to Karkat. You would’ve sat with John and Dave, but you were afraid that Vriska would blow up again or something. As you opened your lunch box to pull out your food, you decided to ask everyone something. “Do you guess know who that Vriska girl is?”

Karkat scoffed. “Oh, she’s only the biggest nook stain on the entire planet. She’s always fucking with people and their business for some unknown reason.”

“Oh, c’mon Karklez. She’s not that bad!” Terezi cackled as she took a bite of her cheese pizza.

The red blooded troll didn’t say anything, but gestured to Gamzee. He was bawling and blowing his nose on his peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Terezi blinked, not saying anything else.

“Why’d you ask?” Karkat mumbled to you, not wanting to upset Gamzee anymore.

You thought for a moment. You could tell your brother anything, right? I mean, he was your brother and you usually told him everything else that happened, even if he laughed at you. You were about to explain, when something caught your eye. You saw Vriska conversing with some nasty blue blood trolls. She glared at you, and that’s when you knew.

“Oh, um… no reason.” You quickly began eating your sandwich, pretending nothing had happened.

Little did you know, someone else knew that something was wrong.

You exit the lunchroom and head for your locker, which you’re still somewhat freaked out about. You carefully grab your things and hope that you can talk to the office and have someone fix your locker. As you head for your next class, someone puts a hand on your shoulder and flips you around.

It was Dave Strider.

“Hey, what was up with you at lunch?” He asked. You could almost feel his eyes burning through his shades directly into your own.

“I… um…” You didn’t know what to say. Fearful of what would happen if Vriska saw you, you quickly ran off towards your next class, leaving Dave completely confused.

You cringe, remembering exactly what you’re in for next. You had just wasted all of your energy running away from Dave, and now, you would be facing your worst nightmare; 6th period gym.

Cue horrible horror music.

Gym was one of your least favorite classes, mostly because all of your least favorite people were in it. If your friend were there, it would be somewhat of a different story, but they weren’t. So, it was like this. Besides, you knew what you were doing to day. It was everyone’s least favorite activity, and that would be running laps.

You quickly changed into your gym clothes and stood on the wall in your place. As everyone else started conversations on the wall – as usual – you just stood alone. You didn’t feel like talking to anyone, so having no friends in your gym class was currently an advantage. However, you felt someone sit their back on the wall next to you.

You glanced over and saw Dave. You mentally facepalmed, forgetting that he was in your gym class. You gulped, knowing that Vriska wasn’t there, but still being frightened about the possibilities.

Dave nudged you. “What’s the deal with you today? This morning you were all cool, and now you’re all… y’know, being weird.”

“I’m not being weird,” You protested. “I’m being normal me. I am totally normal.”

He crossed his arms and stood next to you in his regular cool stance. “Now that’s definitely weird for you.”

You sighed. “I’m fine, geez. Y’know, Karkat just said you had to protect me from bullies, not be my therapist here.” You heard your gym teacher blow his whistle, which was your cue to start running those laps and get away from Dave.

Unfortunately, he caught up with you. He kept a steady pace to keep by your side. “Look,

I’m not trying to be your therapist, I just wondered what was wrong. It’s not cool not to answer peoples’ questions.”

“Well, I’m not cool, so that’s not much of a problem is it?” You said with a snotty tone, hoping that would make him leave. It did not, though. In fact, you thought it made him more annoying.

“I’m going to keep this stride until you tell me,” He said, smirking at his own terrible pun. You looked around as you ran for a moment. As far as you knew, no one around you would go and tell Vriska about you telling.

You hesitantly began to explain. “Well… in 2nd period, someone threw a note at me saying that I stole their guy. Before lunch at my locker, Vriska was there and she said that she threw the note. She said something about how she’s you’re quote on quote ‘Strider Bitch’ and that if I talk to you ever again that she’d beat me up or something terrible like that… and then she put a huge fist dent in my locker.”

Dave actually stopped running, which made you stop as well. You weren’t sure what was wrong, but you hoped he was okay. “I don’t know what she’s talking about, but no one is my ‘Strider Bitch’, especially not her.” He shuttered, obviously pretty grossed out by Vriska.

“But why would she threaten me if you guys aren’t even dating?” You asked.

He shrugged. “She likes me, and Egbert probably let it slip that I like-“ He stopped for a moment.

"-well, you already know.” He finished.

You thought for a moment, figuring it out with ease. When you were about to question Dave, however, you saw that he had already began running laps again.
