Part 1 of my Power Rangers Trilogy

The research vessel The Darwin was in a rough spot. Caught in the middle of a storm in uncharted waters with none of their instruments working. The crew manages to maneuver the ship towards an island but a rogue wave catches the ship and beaches it, stranding it. Taking advantage of a bad situation the the expedition team set up camp on the beach.

The next day Doctor Donald Reynolds takes a small group of students to explore the island. As they traverse they find many structures that indicate civilizations came together from all over the world to settle there. They then found themselves at a temple surrounded by statues, many broken of strange humanoid sharks with claws. They team entered the temple. They found in the center an alter. And on that alter were a set of colorful, glowing discs. Each of the explorers reach out and grab a disc. As they do so the discs merge with them and a light travels from their hands to their chests as they begin to morph. The alter crumbles to reveal a girl inside. The girl identifies herself as Amara, princess of Atlantis. Outside the statues come to life, and the shark creatures begin to enter the temple. The newly powered Rangers manage to fight their way out. And once the creatures leave Amara begins to explain things.

Thousands of years ago her father ruled Atlantis. And using magic he created the Power Rangers to keep the peace. But a group of rebels used magic of their own to transform themselves into monsters. Their leader, Markos, had even managed to steal one of the kings discs and imbued it with his own magic to increase its power. After a long battle Markos managed to seal away the king. But the spell also transformed himself and his followers into stone and hid the island from all outsiders. Removing the discs from the alter broke the first safeguard, freeing Amara, Markos, and his followers. But in order to free the king, the Rangers would need to defeat Markos.

Amara accompanied the Rangers back to their camp along with her loyal servant, Jellie, in order to learn more about their world and to help the Rangers in their fight to free her father. Over the next few months the Rangers battled against Markos' forces. During that time Amara developed a friendship with a member of the expedition team, Remy. Remy seemed to have a knack for picking up new things. He learned many skills from various people among the expedition. He secretly investigated the island and withheld information from the rest of the group as he started to uncover evidence of a second temple.

No matter how many battled they fought the Rangers were always successful. When Markos' forces dwindled, he used his magic to grow them in a last ditch effort. But even this would prove ineffective as the Rangers would learn to summon their Zords.

Eventually Markos himself confronted the Rangers. Markos proved to clearly be the more powerful Ranger. As the fight was happening Remy had used his notes to make his way to the second temple. As Markos overpowered the Rangers Jellie and Amara joined in on the fight, surprising Markos and shifting the balance just enough for the Rangers to gain ground. Back at the temple Remy finds an alter with words carved into the top and a black disc. Meanwhile the Rangers had nearly defeated Markos when he calls in his Leviathan zord for help. This turn of events force the Rangers to call in their own Zords, but once again Markos had turned things in his favor. But just as things seem lost, Jellie reveals that the Zords can merge together. They do so, creating a Megazord that overpowers Markos' zord. Now defeated Markos lays dying as the Rangers surround him.

Markos pleads with the Rangers to take his disc and continue his crusade as Remy back at the temple translates the alter's carving. It is revealed that the king of Atlantis was a power mad dictator that created the Rangers to subjugate the world. Markos and his followers fought back in order to stop him. They even went so far as to hide the entire island in order to ensure the discs never fell into the wrong hands. Remy turns his light to find an army of Jellies in stasis. As Markos dies his disc unbonds with him. And a shockwave is felt across the entire island. The Jellies begin to come to life. Amara reaches out to grab Markos' disc while at the same time Remy grabs the black disc. The discs bond to their new hosts as they are both morphed.
