Description Commission for the lovely AprilSilverWolf who was kind enough to contribute to my efforts to save for a psychiatric service dog  Help a Wolfdog Get a Service DogYes, you read that right. I've been debating back and forth about whether or not I should go public with this, but I feel like it's the right time. Those who have been following me for awhile will know I've been struggling with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks, and my mom and I have finally come to terms with the fact that a psychiatric service dog is the best thing for me. Trust me, I've done tons of research and a lot of soul searching, and will be very responsible with the steps I take. I'm so ready to have a life, to have independence, and this animal will be a big part in helping me achieve that. I plan to train the dog myself with some assistance from outside trainers, as not only do I not have the money to get one from a service dog school, but I also just feel it's the best course of action for my situation.
With all that said, I need to raise some funds for this. There's the cost of the dog itself, the training, the vet care, and the supplies. Pretty substantial. She wanted a tribal/Celtic/heraldry type commission featuring an intertwined wolf and African wild dog, and since I've never drawn in that style before, I had to do a lot of research and experimenting to make it look right. In the end I went for a style with the basic shapes of a heraldic wolf www.google.com/search?q=herald… mixed with the swirls of the Celtic style www.google.com/search?tbm=isch… : along with some inspiration from one of my favorite games, Okami www.google.com/search?tbm=isch… : Most of the shapes were chosen for specific meanings by AprilSilverWolf, or inspired directly by Celtic tapestries www.google.com/search?hl=en&tb… : The texture was actually made using a combination of about three different photos I took at the abandoned Staten Island Hospital, during a hardhat tour in 2017. I took closeup photos of walls and doors there with the intent of using them as textures. I played around a lot with the effects to make it look old and faded, like a medieval painting or tapestry. I'm actually surprisingly satisfied with how this turned out, especially considering the fact that I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.
