Looks as if I only logged off for a week.Ho well, it's longer than other people that have sort of like... deleted their gallery and made their speeches. Which is all well and fine. Leaving here is hard.
Nonetheless, I needed a small break or else...
Story
Shadow went to hell. Because Sonic saved the day during the against the biolizard before the black and red hedgehog could undo all his bad deeds.
Now all he has is a rose- symbolising the good he once had, his memories of Maria, and everything he had turning to ashes.
Those are the gates in the bg, in some forest of death scene.
... and I really need to get back to studying.
Note that this is not the canon story but just one of my many interpretations. Granted a lot of people see Shadow as cute and cuddly- but I do to a considerable extent see bad in him. (:
That's why I love him.
This is an Oekaki, touched up via Photoshop.
I was going to put this as a deviation but on further thought, decided no. I didn't put much effort into it and so yes, that's it.

But its just because the great people here...and it just feels as if I can meet more great people on here and stuff. But Im glad your back
I always love how you draw Shadow, just this style you use just makes him look more cooler and badder (Well depends on the pics of him you draw) I just love his pose, its wonderfully done and the way he's holding up that fire ball with his finger just impresses me a lot. I don't know why, I just love it a lot! I think its just the way you made him tilting his head slightly down with just a little not smile/not frown (or is it a frown? xD) and then he is just holding up that fire ball with his middle finger (?) Oooh bad boy, no wonder he went to hell xD. ...well besides the thing you said in the description of course. He's still a bad boy. Very nice work making the the light from the fire shining on him, makes the pic look more realistic and adds more things. A pic with fire and no shines on the character is just so blah and boring, but when people add the shines it just makes the pic look so much better. Amazing work with the bg, its beautiful and just looks exactly like how I predict hell would look like. Red sky. Fire everywhere. A red sky. A spooky tree. Yup its all so awesome. Its cool and I just love how you made the fire seethroughish making the fire look more lighter and I just like the way you made the fire than some other people make fire. And great job with everything else....its all so good.
Ahhh man, Im being way too lazy these days...xD Just wish I could try to fight it more when it comes to commenting on your stuff. Hah anyways, splendid work yet again, just keep your pics coming...PLEASE! ;D

Thanks very much for the feedback. I think you're the first who noted the expression which to me, is basically the most important precursors in doing a pic. It helps me determine the rest of what I wanna draw >>

Yeah, I agree about the shadow and the gate perhaps being better off softer or something to add distance

I was better at application subjects like Maths. Biology is shizzy. But if I pass, most of the work will be decent cos we'll be well into clinicals

Hee, Ben, I know how ya feel. Leaving dA even for a week was very hard for me.
But anyway, onto this lovely deviation...*shot* Very moving, this picture, where everything symbolizes something. As you said, the withering rose is the symbol of what little good Shadow had in his life, wasting away in the pits of Hell. And the gates are like the gates of Hell. To me, also, the flames could stand for the flames of ambition and anger and the many bad deeds Shadow has done. Fire leaves scars in the earth, just as his bad deeds will leave scars in those said peoples.
As Fizzy said, very vivid colors, ones I would expect to find in such a place.

I like the idea behind this a lot and I agree with you in the aspect that many see him in a happy light... and while it can be interesting to see pictures of Shadow like that instead of the million upon millions of angsty pics, Shadow is more of a tragic character, and the premise that he falls into hell as he was unable to atone for all his past sins, despite the fact that he sacrificed his life to save the world, makes him seem even more tragic and makes for an interesting picture as shown here.
Everything is superbly well drawn with regards to lighting and the firey flames, and I particularly like the gates which helps to make the picture more interesting and varied too.

To answer your question, yes, that would be the moon. Fair enough question and such. This is just some random surreal scene. Behind the gates is the outside scene and Shadow has just stepped into hell. Te he he... yeah, I'm twisted and cruel >>

A nice drawing Kate, you really improved very much. So it's, and I have to say this, a shame that you have it in your scraps. I like the idea behind the pic and the pic itself. Another very emotional one with a deep meaning from you. Although I think Shadow made everything good while givving his life to save the world, which makes him in my eyes to an even more heroic char as Sonic.

I think I've managed to sort of like, reason out everything. Getting everyone's input from the journal I wrote helped that. I know I preferred fan art over fan character art... until I got to know the fan characters themselves. Some of them. Not all are brill...
