Quick Edit: Have moved the picture from 'Scraps' to 'Gallery'No one-worded or lame comments. Spare it for someone that wants that sort of stuff, kay?
Basically, my definition of a lame comment would be something along the lines of 'Awesome', 'Cool', 'Dramatic', and then buggering off. Be thankful you're not even forced to comment... though I get the feeling some people feel that way Β¬_Β¬
Okay, and now a description I should have provided (if anyone cares to read >> )
For people that don't know, Wraith is a gentically engineered Shadow clone. He has always struggled to come to terms with his identity and in turn, has a hateful and sociopathic nature, determined to show he's more than just a copy by proving his brute and strength to others and to himself.
The geezer has never actually had a rolemodel though or had proper guidance, which is why his life is driven by anger.
And no one has actually ever stopped to ask 'what's wrong?' lol, not sure how anyone would react to that if they did constantly put on an angry front and had that asked for the first time.
He also has an addiction towards the Chaos Emeralds.
So I have drawn him breaking on in half, because he's curious to see what their made of. Or maybe he broke it cos he wants control. Who knows.
He is an icey individual, so is hardly going to get cold in a place like this.
I am not really sure what inspired this picture. I really wish I had planned something better to say along with this @_@
Oh well, that's what the future's for; getting it right next time? Uh, something .like that... x_x

@____@. That looks drop-dead incredible, I LOVE that ice formations.. they look so spendid and the crystals have a realistic form to them.. so.. beautiful to look at. I love the blends of colors you put into this.. and I want to KILL myself for not commenting and seeing this earlier!! I wish this image was a bigger size, this looks very gorgeous and I want to view more details!!
But dangit! You really seem to capture ice crystals very well, and the glow of the sky looks spectacular! I love the moon just mellowing in the thick vivid clouds.. It doesnt look night or day and it still looks fantastic X)!
Wraith there, looks excellent BTW! His pose is very well done and I love how he's holding the ice crystals to himself with the glow lingering around the crystals. He seems to be wounded in battle as well, juding from the splatters of blood on him and the ice!. His expression and the colors on him look well done.. and very much seem to match the background! Wow! seriously, well done put together. I simply love how Wraith is sitting there.

I've been meaning to comment this picture, and the rest of your artwork that you posted, *nods nods* Anyways, I absolutely love what you've done with this picture, I truly do love how you put in a lot of details and values in each little area. But let me first start with Wraith first, cause heβs special. X3
First off, if you were to put up an advance critique at the bottom of the page, even though Iβm a nit picker, I could not find anything at all wrong with Wraith or the brilliant colors you applied onto him. I simply awe how there are no signs of black outlines that is around him or within him. Wonderful job with smoothing out the edges on him, it doesnβt looks like heβs all blurred out or nothing thatβs close to blurred out. All seem to fit in very well; even the background flows in well with Wraithβs mood.
I really like how you drew his expression here in the picture. To me, he looks curious as heβs gazing into the inside of the aqua colored Chaos Emerald, or maybe heβs giving off an, βeh, whateverβ expression. But itβs funny how he shows no pain in his expression. I mean, heβs bleed and all. But man, wonderful job with the blood; looks realistic and I really love how you have the blood trickling down his arms. And you can see blood at the bottom of his left shoe and at the bottom left page. But I admire how you did the energy light that are coming off of the emerald thatβs split in halfβ¦. wonderful, just wonderful.
Great work with the spikes at the back of his head, and again, the designs on him are really spiffy and give him an icy look. I like how you did his shoes and the shadings they have are done well. As a matter of fact, that values you did in the picture is super and was planned well. I mostly like the values around the eyes and the lower torso. But anyways, great job with the shadings and the proportions you did here with Wraith.
β¦.*is speechless* My word Kateβ¦ I know Iβve always said this, but you make wonderful backgrounds. You always seem know what background to fit with the foreground, for this scene fits in perfectly with Wraith and his mood(s?). I like what you did with the background, canβt tell what I like the most. But it looks as though you worked extremely hard on the crystallized ice at all sides.
Can I say something to improve the scene a little bit more and make it more realistic and alive/thriving if you make another icy looking scene? Donβt have to read this next part, Iβm not forcing you. ;3 But, you should add in vapor gas coming off the ice, not to much though so it doesnβt leave the views confused or looking at them too much. Itβll give the background that hazy look and give off a mysterious mood off of Wraith and the background. But thatβs just my opinion; donβt have to listen to me.
Anyways, I like the swirling colors where Wraith is sitting upon. If you forget about the rest of the background except for that part with him in it, it looks at though Wraith is sitting on a planet. I find that neat, as in your description, he wants to prove that he isnβt a clone at all. In my opinion, I believe Wraith would be a great powerful being to rule the world, I can see it now.,,. *smacked* xD;; But great job with the different colors there, theyβre interesting to look at as they swirl about here.
But going up a little more, the ices forming at the sides are done quite splendidly here. And we can see some of the ices separated from the other ice figures next to each other. Great job with the white colors and the blue on the ices here, they blend in very well and everything. I like how you did the sharp icicles as you look up more at the right sides in our point of view. And I also adore how you made a few areas sparkle a bit. I feel as though there is a light breeze from within the picture, because I can see a few things flying in the sky, like those white bits of ice; but great job if or even if you didnβt mean to add it in.
And lastly, the far back in the background is just extraordinary to look at. The moon looks rounded and I like how you made imprints in the moon to make it real life. The clouds are just beautiful here. But, even though they look pretty, in the aftermath, the sky will be pitch black, or so thatβs what I think. I like how you darkened the clouds here and there; the orange to purple/dark blue setting is wonderful to me.
Lovely piece of work you did here Kate. I love how you did the wonderful colors and its values and the different shapes in here. I like how you did it in 3D like form without using outlines in the end. Again, great job with the position you placed Wraith in, the way you did his expression, his hands and fingers on the broken Emerald, and all the way down to his legs and shoes. Superb job as always Kate, keep up now ya here? ;3

Amazing. I LOVE the emerald- the pale glow contrasts well to his dark skin/fur and the shards are drawn well. The background is really great! The ice is amazing, very smooth looking, although on the left it seems more rushed. Wraith himself is good- his eyeballs/iresis are a little uneven for the perspective but overall he looks fine- great in fact
As for the character side... I think it's him being curious, like he often is from what I can see... he is quite young, after all.
I would ask him what's wrong? Come on Ickle Wraithy-kun, what's da mattah?

And I know my fingers are going to hurt so bad after this comment, I can just tell by the pic. Sooo here we go! ..but first let me make it clear that full mode isn't working for me for some reason....so I might spot different things or think they are something different and miss things...so sorry for that ;-;
You always draw such detailed pics that just show the emotion so great and clear....I can even see it from regular mode so that how clear it is xD So great job on that. His pose is splendid and it just shows the emotion so well too as well as the expression, oooo is he bleeding because of the emerald's power? Again....I can't really see as good as if I can if I was in full mode. Nice work with the blood dripping down his arms, I always love how you make the blood doing that in your pics. Holy crap....0.0 Thats just too great how you made the emeralds shining on Wraith like that, I mean you made it way more cooler than some people do....I guess its just how you made the shines just little lines here and there how they should be, not like some people just make those big glob of shine....You know what Im talking about right? xD Damn, you just always have to make the emeralds sooo shiny, which make them so distracting...but in a good way. The picture really does seem to represent his persona, huh? Dark, reflective, hard and cold; sort of indifferent. Wasn't Shadow a clone of Sonic to begin with, though? So he's a clone of a clone. o_o

Hey there, just saw your response to my journal thing.
Perhaps I will kill two birds with one stone...
It's interesting what you said that the day you start doing art for people's desires is the day you stop being an artist. Some people I know will do it for popularity and stuff... the mindless comments they get and some status people seem to think they gain from doing 'bling bling' fan art. I really don't know why, it took me so long to figure out, what it was about the community that was rubbing me up the wrong way. I genuinely thought people liked my techniques. To an extent now I am questioning that prospect now... what people really said was valid. Don't get me wrong, in a way now, I am beginning to see who the loyal people really are. They are few and far between, but one makes up for about 20 idiots in my opinion.
And I am grateful...
...but torn now. I don't want to neglect fan art. But it chokes me out how people work.
I still see people who do with their own art. But then it hit me it's because they did that since the beginning and built their watchbase that do like their stuff... whereas I have set myself up for 'Sonic art'... so...

Shadow is equal in his abilities to Sonic. Speed, agility, e.t.c but he is an anti-hero compared to Sonic, dark, stoic, antisocial. He's not his clone though. He happened to be created before Sonic apparently. Though we know nothing of Sonic's past- he's a just a guy that loves adventure and ultimately, it's best having his cool-blue past in the unknown. No one ever knew so it's best to keep it that way and he is a sound and cool individual.
Shadow's past makes him though. Apparently he was created 50 years ago relative to the setting of where Sonic is in Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic is like, 15 or something. Shadow was basically kept in cyrofreeze. Shadow is an artifical lifeform who was created as a bioweapon, but he had a soft spot for a friend called Maria. He witnessed her being shot, and then got it mixed up in his head that before she died, that she requested Shadow to get Revenge off of the world. Shadow eventually realises his mistake...
ugh! I am not doing a good job of telling the story. Perhaps read up on a more reliable source when you are bored?
But yeah, Wraith came from an RP initially. Not chat. These board RP's. A little more sophisticated and serious in my opinion. It's the setup I personally prefer anyway.
But yes, he is the extremenist. Not the hero or anti-hero, but rather an evil, sociopathic and angry individual. Just him being a muse I tend to do a lot of... melancholic pics as it were X3

Any time. n.n A healthy balance really can be achieved, I think, between doing fanart and your own art - technique for one is an example; fanart is how Artist interprets a popular figure to look, using their own techniques.

I think it does look very nice, definantly something that you took time into looking at. However...
I was reading through most of the comments and the one thing I keep seeing is 'He looks worried!' and the sort. I keep looking back up to the picture and stare at his face and his eyes and everything. Now, either I'm seeing things or he does not look worried to me. Personally, if we could hear his thoughts it would be more like 'Oh no. I broke the emerald.' in a flat tone like he doesn't care. *scrolls up again* Nope, still looking the same.
Otherwize, this is loved. Don't see how he could break an emerald could break so easily without causing a massive chaos explosion (sorta like an atomic explosion). I love the shoes. I wish I could have a pair like those.

Heh. I was looking at everyones always thinking, "Hey! How do you see that? I can't see a single look or worry on his face! Where do you all get this?" It would seem believable to one who hasn't seen him before by the place where he is set. Maybe an icy hedgehog in an icy surrounding? Fits perfectly with his expression. I don't feel sorry for him, as you are his creator you want him to feel cold and used. Same thing in the writings or thoughts I do. Manipulate the characters so that you want to feel sorry for them but yet repulsed at what they've done.
I've always had the interpretation of a Chaos Emerald being something that is unbreakable. Well... not totally unbreakable but if it were to happen it would be like splitting an atom. A Chaos emerald has massive amounts of energy as it has so repeatedly shown us many times that I've come to believe that in order for one to be able to use it, they would have to use the proper amount of chaos energy within themselves to be able to control it. Hence why everyone can't use it. Chaos energy is like the soul. You have to have some which is why it can affect others around it. Gah... I'm rambling of my thinking too much on the matter again...
But the blood upon the hands is a 'child appropriate' to what might be the energy used to actually break the emerald.

Stunning work, Kate. A very well done piece, it's a very nice subject manner fulfilled superbly. The character itself, Wraith, looks as amazing as he always does, his pose and expression are beautifully done as he examines what it's likes to actually shatter a Chaos Emerald (which makes me wonder too what would actually happen. Would it be like the same when the Master Emerald shattered? Bleh. Who knows) and the colouring work upon him is as astounding as it is always is. What I'm considerably impressed with though, is the luscious background.
Everything is done perfectly, the ice cavern, and the sky in the background. The tones of blues and grey are used superbly on the ice and it does look very effective and reflective. The sky is amazing and the cloud passing over the moon looks particularly realistic. In all, a very good piece of work with an obviously lot of time and dedicated effort put into it with fantastic results. Nice work.
And btw, I like the new avvy which is really cool, a nice expression and atmosphere created by it. A bit bleak though, hmm?

The blood is indeed sublte. I dind't want to over do it. The red is quite a dominant colour compared to the other cooler colours. So I didn't want to kill anything as it were...

Wraith certainly does look curious about the chaos emeralds, perhaps he is thinking of the power actually being inside the emeralds, but then again he's just curious. The glacier work around him is really beautiful, all smooth, shiny, and..icy *envys your ice making skills* hehe X3 so wicked how you made it look so realistic, the bg also adds a nice setting to the pic, the colors do blend in beautifully.

Unfortunatly 'reaching out to people' isn't exactly a prospect that would cross his mind. I need to post an RP passage one day to sort of like, provide insight into the way he talks and acts and everything. I assure you know one would consider hugging him if they knew...
Regarding your other question- I don't come on MSN hardly ever because it stresses me out to talk to 7 people and two people as of now are pressurising me to go online. I do have exams in August.

But erm, I used Photoshop 7 (: . I have Open Canvas but I don't have a clue how to use it. My old tablet which I prefer can't handle it. It seems to take AGES for the computer to process the lines... I have another tablet which works well with it, but the tablet itself is slippy and unpleasant for me.

You can do better. Don't take that as a mean thing. In fact, it's good to know that. I know a lot of hopeless cases who I don't even bother with. But even for them, it really does take a lot for me to stop myself from saying 'look, if you can't comment better than that, go home'
I really don't know how commenters tick to be honest. I really don't know whether they comment because they enjoy it, whether it becomes routine because they feel 'obliged' to keep up, or whether they like being a pain. Or maybe they work on comment exchange?
But for a pic that took 9 hours like this one, it's not all that gratifying to see to see a half-hearted comment. I can tolerate people who's first language isn't English. But to just say... 'I like this and that... interesting...' :/
