NOTE: Glad you ppl like this picture. However, kindly stfu regarding the Orb/Talisman name that Spyro is holding. I'll call it a pink flamingo if I want to.Really, how bored are you?!? It's a picture to be looked at, of Spyro, holding what I want to and will call... a Talisman. Who says I have to follow things 100%. I gave Spyro yellow eyes for starters FFS.

This is Spyro the dragon, from the playstation series.
This scene is taken from my favourite level in Spyro 2. There is some sort of Lava level where you fly around a 'Mount doom' sort of level, and spit these stones at these annoying demons or something.
Here he is now. Except the twist here is that our hero is looking edgy... literally. And he is holding a talisman. These items you collected in Spyro 2.
No heavy criticisms please. None of the '
' emoticon and don't bloody well go for the obvious 'Cool, I like the fire'. Just, it seems so stupid people always seem to comment on the special FX. Perhaps elaborate and use your brain ¬_¬

Wow! That is a really good Spyro. I like his expression. It's as if he's just seen Ripto or some other baddie. You put great detail into his wings and horns. Actually, you put great detail into the whole picture. Don't scrap it, though, it's great! I'm sorry, but I do have to comment on the FX because it's just so cool. It looks as if some of the lava is splashing up.

You're composition in this is very well thought out. Spyro's eyes and the talisman are definitely the best features in this piece. The green really brings out spryo and his surroundings. A very detailed picture indeed.

Land a little too precariously, Spyro? Tsk tsk. Seriously, I love the shading style used here, and even though the firey effect IS cool, the way you drew the talisman and his wings are far more cool

Darn fun game Spyro was...too bad some of his later games bite...
...what the...how did you color that? That's a great job especiall on the shading and the glow from the red hot lava of the volcano!
Spryo looks like he is ready to wet himself, to quote a guy from a Nintendo conference...and ah I remember the talismans. I also remember collecting a boatload of those gems that boggled my mind how he could carry so many...I would kill, KILL to color a drawing this good...

very lovely! ^_^ but aren't spyro's eyes purple? then again, I think I've seen them brown on occasion..... just a li'l nit pic - the wing that's turning towards us looks a little wierd to me. and spyro's feet and hands look like paws to me. shouldn't they be more...i don't know, scaly? doesn't he also have claws?
if I sound like I'm being mean, I'm not trying to be. this is just my honest opinion, feel free to disregard anything I have just said.

The environment means that I have toned Spyro to a more red colour. My own skin, for instance, will not look the same shade of white in sunlight as I would in a keln for example, would it?
His eyes are black. They look boring and lifeless to me in the PS version so I added my own flare... as I have done with the feet and the paws. I never claimed to go with the canon style. Had I done so, I wouldn't even have made him 2D.
In addition... you're the first and only person as of yet to have said the wing looks weird.
And you are nitpicking unnecessarily. I don't mean to be rude, but I think I made it quite clear in my description that I didn't want critisiscms on that level. I didn't even state 'critique advanced'. Not that I am expecting people to be 'sunshine and roses' entirely- but the vibe I got from your feedback seemed like a biased opinion from a critic.
But that's just my interpretation. Gotta take what you dish out, hey? And I will say something if I feel the need to say it.

Content: Looks like Spyro's in a bit of a pinch! XD Normally confident and tough, so his expression is great, kinda like, "Eehhh... Now what'm I gonna do?" I've played the first Spyro game so I'm decently aquainted with the little purple dragon. :3 ... Is that a skull I see in the dark cloud? o.o
Crafting: @_@ WHOMG. Beautiful. I really am impressed by the fire effects, it looks like he's sitting in a volcano, apropriatly, but I also agree with dmitridmitri, in that since the brightest light source is the lava, so you could stand to have some shadows on the upper parts, and the sky is overcast, so the brightest light would definitly NOT be the sun as the highlights, especially those on his head, dictate. Another thing I would suggest is a sort of heat-mirage effect, maybe a subtle defocusing and a little grid distortion. I love the lineless style. I'd say that despite the iffyness with highlights and shadows, it merits this:
Your work, and the work of some other of my favorite deviants, is a skill level I strive to achieve. Thanks for reminding me why I do art. ^_^

I like how you have lineless looking lineart that you did for Spyro, makes him look really good and not outlined, which brings more life into him. The position you placed him in is very lovely and I absolutly adore the emotion you applied to his face, the expression really gets me... I think the expression really gets me because you don't see a lot of heroes being afraid of anything, only a slight bit, but not as muxh as Spyro is in right now; and I mostly see Spyro looking very tough and brave then all worried like he is now. 
I like how you did the body, however, the top belly scale looks a little up on the right side then the left. I do know that you were giving him that side look, but if you look more closely at the part where the armpits meet the yellow belly part, the top yellow scale goes almost up to his right shoulder then his left one does. But that's the only thing that my brain says that looks iffy; the rest of the picture is still wonderful to me, so you don't have to worry about anything. ^-^
The details on his horns, top scales, and wings are the parts that I mostly like on him. Dazzling they are, and I'm amazed how well you did them. The wings.. are really my favorate part on Sypro in this picture. I like the colors of the flaps, how they have orange and yellow to it like fire. And his left wing, sort of tucked next to Sypro, I really like that because it makes Spyro more afraid the usual. The shadings and highlights on him are worked on very well and it looks great to me..
...Oh dear, I almost forgot about the eye, meep, how silly of me! X) I really love how you colored Spyro's eye. It seems very shiny to me, which I most simply like to see in pictures. So I approve of the eye, and the rest of the appearance on Spyro. Super job as always. ;3
Now let's talk about the background shall we? Sí, let's! ^.^ I haven't play Spryo much, but this is an outstanding level world to look at. It has a lot of lava and I bet it's pretty hot to be there. The rocks you did is lovely and I admire how you made each part standing out from the rest. I like how you used the the yellows in some areas and the dark shadings too. I also like how you did little yellow dots in places all spreaded out to make it look like the lava is very close to Spyro and moving around. And the splash in the far back gives even more life to the picture. The red sky is quite spunky, so are the swirling clouds you have in there. Great job with the background Kate, you always draw the best backgrounds I ever seen here on DA.
Again, I approve everything in this picture. You did an astonishing art piece, and it's quite dazzling to look at everytime still. Super job as always Kate, and sorry about my lengthy comment. ._. Lately I've been commenting less... but I guess I commented this picture a lot just to show how much I'm always delighted to see your artwork. Keep up the superb job, and take care.

It's just really worthwhile- all the hours and such that I try to put in, to receive a response like that 
Espicially with art like this and feedback like this, it's like having shared similiar interests (the fact that we both dig Spyro X) ) that I dunno... having drawn something like this, you recognise it's Spyro. Granted, I know you said you didn't really know the scene. But still- you know SPyro and such so that's all that matters and it's just really wonderful, like I keep repeating, to get your awesome comment. It was one of the best ever. Thank you SOOO much ;__;
I was totally unsure how this picture may look to people to be honest. I see quite a few flaws. I really feel as if I didn't try as hard as I could have done with the details. But now that you have pointed the aspects out, I feel better actually. Thanks so much again T_T
Lol! I feel bad! One of the many things I admire about Spyro is that he is NEVER EVER scared! I have never seen him shiver, break a sweat, or anything. I was curious to know what he looked like scared. I think it's okay even for heroes to be afrain. To an extent I think it adds some 3D and makes them seem all the more... well, not human... but living.
Hmmm, I agree about that body, lol. I kind of rushed the sketch and didn't use any guidelines. That's why he doesn't really look strictly four legged either...

Well I do dig Spyro, just that I haven't fully played a game with him in it. *hears a gasp* I have played a demo with him in it though.. but I don't have a game with him in it. ;o; But still.. I do know a little bit of Spyro to consider myself those er.. mini fans. X3; So I do know Spyro.. but I've gotta get my hands on a game of him sometime soon! *runs off to buy a Spyro game or two... but comes back to keep on replying this comment*
