I think people are just playing around with this super, overpowered Mary Sue thing. I think the real Marys and Garys aren't this flamboyant and they change for the better.

You forgot the part about giving them an exceedingly complicated and super-tragic backstory that makes them so perfectly sympathetic and relatable to everyone, and anyone who trashes them for having said backstory is the most heartless person alive who's just jealous that they're not as cool as them or their OC. Other than that, good job. It's funny because it's sadly so true. XD

Agreed i just hate recolors and some people Β already say my oc is a mary sue because she looks like silver. She is supposed to be his twin well half twin Β and if they think zenix is a mary sue tell that to sega and there character designers because shes a new character that the helped with me make so before people judge my or others art look at the decriction first!

There's a difference between a fan character looking similar to a canon character, and recoloring canon line art.
As long as you draw it yourself you're fine. I mean, you should try to be creative about it, but the important thing is that you either draw it yourself or use a base with the artist's permission, and credit them.
