I used to recolor, but I grew up and realized that it's stupid.
I just don't understand why they can't freaking LEARN TO DRAW and draw the character themself, that and learn the basics of making an interesting, balanced character.

My characters are not the best in my opinion but I try to make them interesting and not sue-ish (I'd say I'm still learning character creation), and I actually do something these recolors seem to never do... DRAW THEM FREEHAND, not re-spraying the colors or tracing the lines from someone else's pic that they worked hard on.
And this is an opinion, I don't mind a character having similarities to another as long as there's some considerable differences and they actually put some artistic effort in and draw the character freehand. An example is *Rush88 , his OC is essentially a purple Sonic with different shoes and such, but he actually PUTS ARTISTIC EFFORT INTO HIS WORK. Sadly the same can't be said for most others...

I use to do this, then I thought how boring it was and how people said stuff about getting in trouble, so I only did my characters in my notebooks. Soon, I was able to draw my own characters without anything like lineart and even made my own characters with a story. No super powers or relations to the original sonic characters. Though, I think the names aren't that good. Minnie Dog and Tom Cat.
