Description Chapter 1 - Leaving

He lay on his bed starring at the ceiling. He tried to imagine what the planet he lived on looked like. He didn't even know what land itself looked like. He lived with his mother, father, and sister. His father didn't want him knowing about this planet unless he was certain they were never leaving. He himself, knew that they never were. He didn't know why, but he knew they would have left if they could. All he wanted to do was leave at least the base. His fiery orange eyes had never even glimpsed anywhere else. The creatures that inhabited this planet were called "humans". He didn't even know what that was. He felt so cut off from everything. No one would tell him anything. All he knew was that he was irken, he lived on a planet he'd never seen the surface of, and his name was Xar.

Xar was a 3 year old Irken with a scar shaped birthmark over his left eye. However, he had the maturity of a 13 year old human. His sister, Zya, was older than him. She would be about 15 if she were human. Thats all he knew about Earth; that it was inhabited by extremely un-advanced race of creatures. Zya had always been asking to go to Irk. Unlike him, she had seen the surface or Earth. Only because his family had to travel a great distance to get away from something. He wasn't born yet when that had happened, and when they had traveled back, he wasn't going to be born for another 3 weeks.

Someday he would see what things looked like. He could speak the humans language, but that was only because he had stolen it from his father's computer and downloaded it into his pak. He had talked in that language once before and had gotten in a lot of trouble with his father. His train of thought was broken by an argument that went on almost every night.

"Come on! that's not fair!"

"It's not my decision!"

"But it's still your fault!"

There was a pause

"I just want to go to Irk! I'm not you! I haven't made any stupid mistakes!"

"I don't trust you to go alone!"

"Then Mom will take me! I don't care! I don't want to be here anymore!"

"We'll talk about it later!"

"It's still your fault,"

The stupid mistake; something else that he didn't know about. He ad heard of it before, but he still wasn't quite sure what had happened. No one would tell him. Zya knew, so why couldn't he? All he knew was that it had something to do with why they were stuck on Earth. He heard someone mumble something incoherent.

"Could you just drop it!"

"Would you just shut up!" Xar screamed at them. The second he had, he knew he shouldn't have. He heard Zya stomp toward his door. Immediately, he jump up and ran to the door and pressed the button to lock it. He heard her stomp away after a few tries at opening the door. He went back to laying on his bed for the next 15 minutes until he heard his mother call for him to come to dinner. Once he sat down, the argument started again.

"Can i please?" Zya continued to plead.

"I really don't understand why you can't just let her. I'll go with her if you want me too " Tak added.

"Fine," Zim had finally settled to let Zya go to Irk.

"Finally,"

"What! Then why can't I?" Xar couldn't believe that Zya could go to Irk but he couldn't even see outside of the base.

"Because,"

"Because why? You like her better?"

"No,"

"Then why? you never tell me anything!" He yelled. "Why can't I even leave the stupid base!" He didn't give him a chance to answer and stalked off to his room again.

The next day,Xar walked out into the living room to see Zya and his mother had their bags packed to leave already. Starring at them like that filled him with white hot jealousy. It wasn't fair at all to him.

"Have fun," he said coldly, and stormed back to his room.

He started working on a small gadget in a somewhat angry way. There was a light knock on the door.

"Go away,"

His mother walked in anyway.

"What? You can't be happy for your sister?"

There was no answer.

"Your going to know everything someday," she promised him.

"Yea, when someone tells me what i want to know, it'll be a miracle,"

"I'm sorry we haven't, really,"

There was a long pause as Xar continued to work on the gadget.

"We have to go, bye hon'"

"Bye," he said just as coldly as before.

If it wasn't bad enough he still didn't know anything, he was stuck with the one person he hated most; his father.
