Description
This is the alternate colored version ofxxtheblacksheepxx.deviantart.c… just for fun. I didn't stress too much over the details so I can see a lot of mistakes still lol.I finally caught up with my art commissions... had a particularly frustrating project from another site where I drew a novel cover. Instead of getting paid up front I decided to accept a percentage of the book sales, which I'm already regretting lol. I doubt I'll get any payment from it, plus it took up a lot of my time because the commissioner wasn't prepared and didn't have any references for me, I had to figure everything out on my own. Anyhoo, from now on I'm just going to decline any offers from people who basically don't have a clue what they're doing xD End of rant.

As for commissioners who want novel covers.... PEOPLE SUCK ABOUT THAT OK???? I got one once that wanted me to essentially just tweak existing character designs, which I refused to do. So they doodled some horrible references for me that I couldn't work with at all. Gave me $5 up front, then refused every mock-up I showed them. She kept insisting I was making the one character 'too sexy'... Dude. I don't really even DRAW girls all that well. o_O;; Even in my own gallery, you can tell I don't try to make it over the top, so far as what someone would consider hot stuff in my own designs. So we kept up back and forth, trying to figure out what look she wanted. Sorry, but I kind of hate to tell you that if you put MOST female characters in a school girl outfit, they're GOING to look pretty good. It's just how it is. And when I decided to basically draw a man body in a dress to cut out the 'sexy' complaints, she went on that it was 'too plain'. ......howwasIsupposedtowinthatwar??? When she wanted to pay me the other half of the commission in comics, I threw my hands up and refunded. There was no pleasing that person. x_x;

First off, how can anything be "too sexy" I mean come on XD Maybe she just needs to get her mind out of the gutter lol.
And yeah, that's pretty bad designing on her part to make a cast of girls in school uniforms and then rag on you for making them look pretty... it sounds basically like she wanted you to draw ugly characters or something which just baffles me.
One of my biggest pet peeves of mine is when you have to keep redesigning and redesigning because the commissioner keeps saying something is off about your drawing... but then they fail miserably in explaining ways in which it can be improved or what specifically don't like about it lol. Especially if they're an author, they should be able to use description to put a fairly good picture in your mind of what you should be drawing x(

I don't care if I'm doing it wrong - but please CORRECT ME, so I can do it better. And as an author, hell yea they should be better about the description! Y'know?? idunno. psshhhhhhh

Still, I mean she must've looked through your gallery and was like "I like this person's style, I want to commission them for my story" and then she picks you apart
I have people sometimes be like "oh, you can draw! Can you make me a logo/comic/portrait of my cousin..." and I'll just decline and say I'm a character artist, mostly anime-ish style... and they don't really understand the difference between different kinds of art Dx. Because I know when I'll start drawing they'll just say it wasn't quite what they were looking for... I know my limitations lol. Its not fair if they're asking you to make art that looks like someone else's, I guess that's what I was getting at xP

True, there are a lot of people I see on DA who are in school for some kind of art, but they don't exactly have high hopes for getting a job afterwards..
I actually thought about being an art major, but then I realized I would have to be drawing a ton of things I didn't want to... and then I decided that going to school for art would not be much fun at all lol.

Oh man, that must have been rough, I feel your pain x( Sure does suck when you spend 2 years and thousands of dollars on getting a degree you realize isn't really what you want... I was so worried that when I went into nursing I wouldn't like it but, I feel ok with it so far. It's just the fact that it's SUPER competitive and very hard to complete the degree, hopefully it won't be a dead-end road Dx

Yeah, I got halfway through school and realized that... I just didn't have the
temperament to do well in a field like that.
complain about people and the things they do, what makes people tick
has been a passion of mine for a long time. My focus is on child
psychology, which ended up happening after I was involved in what's
called Disaster Childcare.
Basically, if some kind of disaster happens somewhere,
the supervisor calls and tries to get volunteers together to go play with/
look after the kids of parents who are trying to get their lives back
together again (so they can do that without having to worry what the
munchkins are up to). Usually, this takes place in various shelters. I'd been all
over the country, doing this kind of thing and it always fascinated me how
kids will use art as a medium for expressing the feelings they can't quite
put words to. One little boy had survived a combo earthquake/fire and even though he
didn't say much to any of us volunteers, everything he drew and painted
was black and charred, or actively on fire and falling over. For him, that
was the way he could deal with it. These days I don't tend to go on site
anymore, since I have a daughter of my own to look after, but
I do miss doing stuff like that. //ramblinglol

It really is a mixed message. Apparently we really need nurses right now, but if anything it's getter harder and not easier to get through the schooling because it's so difficult and competitive. There are usually only a limited number of spots open, so even if you excel in your grades you can still get turned down, which is terrible.
Wow, that's really incredible. I didn't know any of this about you before! Sounds like a really amazing experience. Sometimes I wish I've taken part of something like this, where you can see the world or disasters and just be a person helping people through a tough time. On the other hand, I've been through a lot as a kid, and some of my relatives are on food stamps and stuff so I've been used to growing up around poverty... maybe I'm doing more than I think x/ I dunno.
So is your goal to work in one of these disaster care centers as a psychologist?
And wow, I had no idea you had a daughter! I kinda assumed you were around the same age as me, I know you have a job and are going to school, I had no idea you were managing all that with a kid of your own. If you don't mind me asking, what's it like to be a parent? x) Now that I think of it I don't even really know how old you are. I'm 19 btw.

Oh wow... I didn't realize that! I know one of the girls I work with
had said she hadn't gotten into her preferred place in her nursing
program, so she was doing the side classes or something and waiting
to see if she could get in elsewhere. I hadn't really understood what
she she'd been saying at the time, though. Because you DO see so
many adverts, I'd thought the demand for nurses was high!

Which probably stems from the fact that I'd had a lot going on as a child
and back then, I think I could have used someone to talk to. Baw. You know,
I got shot down SO HARD by the school's guidance councilor. x_x;
I guess from the standpoint of an adult, I can see how an elementary school student
putting in to go see the guidance councilor every week might have
made it seem like I was just cutting class. But I had a little sister at home
who was super sick and had a ton on their plates as it was. I guess
I was starved for attention? She'd ask me how I was. And I'd say fiiiine.
Honestly, I remember just enjoying being around her. She smiled and had
a soft voice. She wore pretty clothes and smelled nice. Totally that
young kid reaction of YOU ARE A NICE ADULT AND I WILL CLING ON YOU K??
And the councilor basically told me that if I didn't have 'a real problem',
then I shouldn't see her any more. All these years later, I still look back
and think WHAT A BITCH OMG I WAS A LITTLE KID I JUST WANTED TO TALK
TO SOMEONE THAT SKANK!! lawlawl

one thing to know all about how kids think and quite another to have one
of your own to figure out. The scary thing, is I see so much of myself in her
and more than anything, I'm trying to keep her from having the same stresses
I had growing up. My hubby's family is fairly well psychotic. Mine, too. But
at least mine is far away and can't be a daily circus. Although I can't complain
too very much, since his mother watches Lizzie for us while we're both at work for
a couple hours a couple days a week, until I get out in the evening.
Since the classes are online, I usually do what needs doing at night,
after the munchkin has gone to bed. Aaaand yeah! That's life!
I'm 30 - which frankly makes me cringe and shiver to even type sooldogod;o;

Oh man, sounds pretty difficult, emotionally. I can kind of understand that feeling, if you're a little kid who doesn't get any attention at home, and then at school they aren't really looked at either, that in itself can cause a lot of emotional damage. That must've been a pretty crappy guidance counselor ugh to not notice signs like that and fail to help you out... I mean what kind of person tells a little kid "If you don't have any REAL problems, gtfo of my office" I mean it's her flippin job to see what's going on and help anyone who comes to her. geezus. stupid bittch.
Lizzie's such a pretty name, I really like it! It sounds like you're being a wonderful parent, I mean I think every mom kind of hopes that their kid turn out better than they did lol. That would be my biggest fear as well.. "shit, I hope that if I have a kid it won't suffer mental and emotional traumas and might possibly grow to love me" lol.. you definitely have a very busy schedule, juggling a family and a job plus school on the side is nothing to sneeze at haha. And psh you're not old at all, age is all in the mind xD
It's cool getting to know more about you though, honestly I don't know many people that have kids/stable families so it's pretty refreshing just hearing stuff like this xD I doubt that makes any sense, but oh well!

Well I'm glad! I get so nervous when I reveal my age online. Because there are

And paint. On the walls. And marker. In the carpet... orz Growing up, I remember painting the
carpet and my mum going crazy trying to hide it before my dad got back. Little artistic me
wanted to see that rich, crimson paint against the eggshell white carpet! I don't remember
doing it exactly, since I was so young, but I remember thinking that red was so beautiful
and that it looked MOST beautiful on light colors. -facepalm- Yeah. I was THAT kid. Which is
why I stare at the marker, crayon and colored pencil smears over the walls and go
"...meh. She probably just liked the color combination." /worstparenteveromg
Her daddy is far less amused by all of this. I can't say I blame him? He's not a neat
freak exactly, but he's very concerned about... not destroying things... lololol I'm just really
bad about enforcing the NO PAINTING THE HOUSE rule when I intend to repaint the livingroom
come springtime anyway. It's a dark gold right now and meh.. kind of hate it. I want something
lighter. Something that makes the house look brighter. Any damage Lizzie does, I'll just
paint over anyway lol

Ahahahaa!! IT WAS FUN!! The whole restaurant was dead and we'd done everything we could think to do.
And while sitting around drinking coffee and watching for customers, it somehow turned into talking about
how defensible the restaurant would be in the zombie apocalypse. We decided it wasn't the best place,
being along the highway, so there's the roving zombie packs to think about as well as looters who would
think to hit a place like that for provisions. But with the way it's set up, it could be good to hide from
random dinosaurs. Unless you were chased by Velociraptors. So... that degraded into us turning into
Velociraptors and chasing each other around lawawl We had a loooooooot of free time on our hands

When I was little I would squirt glitter glue into our carpet, it was this ratty old off-white thing and I didn't really care if I messed it up haha. I think my mom told me a coup not to do that, but I think she was planning on getting rid of the carpet anyways (it was in like a play room) so she didn't care much. I wouldn't ever draw anywhere else in the house though, so it wasn't much of a problem x) I guess as long as she's not destroying brand new things or the entire house it's alright (my logic).

I always imagine the hair blowing in the wind when I draw it, I think that's a good way to make it look flowy and have movement. Even if my characters are standing still I always make their hair pull more towards one direction.
Also I had a TON of random strands. I make locks go off in weird directions and have flyaways and stuff.
I've thought about recording myself while I draw hair but I figure the video would be confusing and take way too long O_O

But I suppose livestreaming is easy.. You just record yourself, and people can comment what you say or ask you something, and you can just reply them right away.. Or you can atleast do that with twitch.

I feel like a lot of anime styles look like V-Kei or random rock band hair because their locks are always gravity defying haha. I have no idea what kind of hair you're looking for but maybe try more model-like sites or something?
