Description
The Muse of AgesBy Andrew T. Hurd
Dedicate to Jeanne F. G. Tan
A fleeting muse
She appears in my dreams
I never can touch her
Though we often speak
I can feel her love
And I know she cares
The beating of our two hearts
Is all that I hear
I wish she were real
And as we draw near
As my lips feel the press against them
And my mind is lifted from demons
The phone rings
It’s you, the true muse
The inspiration for an ancient thought
That predates our meeting
But I know that you and her
Are one in the same
I can feel it when
I hear the sound of your voice
Earthly muse of unrelenting beauty
With earthen eyes that drive men
And brunette hair of heavenly thread
Bound to ethereal olivine skin
Your lips of divine quality
And a voice Angels envy
You are my fleeting dream
The one I’ve searched for
You are perfect in my eyes
Even if you doubt your charms
But something is amiss
I have known you only in my teens
And she has danced within my dreams
Since before the first bite of Wisdom
I wish it Prometheus’ blessing
These dreams with her and knowing you
For you and her are
The only ones who drive me
Be this Lucifer’s joke
Or a piece of the tapestry
Yet to be lived
I wish that you and her
Were all that were real
And I could live in these thoughts
Forsaking my sins
And forgetting my past digressions
Oh Delphic bride I beseech thee
Show me the truth
And tell me if I have met her
The one of my heart’s pining
Tell me if we will be
Until the Horsemen draw blade
And the Son of Man appears over Zion
