Don't know why but I always thought that Canterlot is a castle of Celestia. It is white as well as she is, it have style more similar with Celestia than with Luna.Plus Celestia is an elder sister, and therefore she is the main (in my opinion anyway)
So I thought - What if Luna also want Own Castle?
Something what will fits her style. She also a Monarch, as well as Celestia is, and so I think she has all rights to claim on own castle))
Every Princess deserves own castle! X)
Also, while I colored this picture I thought about what if Luna will show this picture to her sister, how Celly will react on it?
I hope She will undestand all coretly and luna will get her own separate castle without war for independence^^

Well, it would say that since Luna was banished to the Moon, the Canterlot castle have been ruled solely by Celestia. Also she made the decisions for its construction. The castle of the Two Sisters was in comparison a collective of them both ideas and decisions. Hence the many traps and tricks. Maybe their actual castle would be as full of traps if Luna never turned into Nightmare Moon.
Awesome work. It shows that you love Luna by their sheer cuteness and beauty. And that precious smile.

e) Artist acknowledges that Artist will not have any right, title, or interest in any other materials with which Artist Materials may be combined or into which all or any portion of Artist Materials may be incorporated. (By posting on FA, you forfeit your right to dispute any third party profits or copyright infringements upon your art.)
f) During the Term, DeviantArt’s licenses under this Agreement include the right to use any part of the Artist Materials in the promotion, advertising or marketing of the DeviantART Sites. (DeviantArt can use your art to advertise anything they want.)
g) As used in this Agreement, the term “Artist Materials” means any content uploaded to the DeviantArt Site(s) which may include without limitation Artist’s name(s) (including professional names), trademarks, trade names, likenesses, photographs, biographical materials, audio-visual materials, artwork, liner notes, and other graphical, textual, video, film or audio materials and any and all “skins,” computer-generated images or other artwork or images that Artist submits to DeviantArt in any medium or format whatsoever. I just realized something a little funny and a little sad. Some fans have compared Canterlot's design to Minas Tirth from Lord of the Rings. The funny thing is that while Minas Tirith means "Tower of the Guard" in Elvish, it wasn't always called that. When it was founded and built, it was called Minas Anor - "The Tower of the Sun." What's more, it had a sister city on the border of Mordor called Minas Ithil - "Tower of the Moon." Sometime after Sauron was defeated, his Ringwraiths conquered the city and it became known as "Minas Morgul" - the Tower of Black Sorcery." The sad thing is that it matches the relationship between Celestia and Luna pre-pilot to a tee. Don't know whether to laugh or cry here...

Problem. There's a city, Canterlot, surrounding Canterlot Castle. If Luna built her own castle on that mountain, there would be no city—and, hence, no infrastructure—supporting it.
