The scars on her back are from her childhood in Mersoth. Mersoth is extremely anti-Gaudyr, and Gaudyr there have almost no rights, are extremely inferior to the non-Gaudyr denizens, and are often beaten/killed.
The scar on her shoulder is a Trekalsii symbol...sort of equivalent to the various Masonic symbols--the character holds no meaning to a non-Trekalser. Mote/Moche meddles in politics far over her head on several occasions, and gets caught in Trekalis - Trekalser - Mersoth political crossfire one too many times. Long story short--she is inducted into the Trekalsii order and thus the mandatory scarring.
The scars on her ears and cheek are from several encounters with Mersothi and Gaudyr-opposition forces. Battle-scars, pretty much.

Yes. And ear scars--along with that one scrape on her right jaw/cheek. The scar on her shoulder is a Trekalsii sign, though... so it was purposefully inflicted.
