The Suikoden series really holds a special place in my heart even now after over 10 years since I first played them. The first one for me was the second one, and I still think of it very dearly. The whole series is just so touching, and I really like it how all the games happen in the same world, making it complete the way no Final Fantasy has done in my eyes. I definitely understand why the series has left such an impression on so many people.

What I find so funny is that Final Fantasy gets so much attention, yet there are many better RPG's I know of than them and compared to some games, FFVII is quite weak. Suikoden, for example, is one of those games, or Grandia.

I still can't decide which tragedy was the strongest for me, Odessa's death or Nanami's end if you don't get all 108 stars in Suikoden II. Suikoden got me interested in writing Tragedies, and now it's my best genre because of Suikoden.

Also, why it has left such an impression on people is because it teaches you to think before you act, as failing to do so may result in tragedy. That and the story is pure win!
Which game was your first? Mine were IV and Tierkreis (yeah, I started with the "worst" ones!) then I got 1 and 2.

I actually am not so fond of FFVII myself either. I don't mean it's bad or anything like that, but it just doesn't get to me as strongly. In fact I prefer IX or X over the rest when it comes to FF. I really think IX needs more love...maybe it being quite different from it's predecessors is the reason it wasn't received as well at first...but anyway, I do agree with you on the opinion that there are many better RPGs than FFs.

I haven't played Grandia before...what's it like?

It really is hard to decide between all the tragedies, they're all so touching, but I think Nanami and Jowy's deaths have gotten be bawling my eyes out the most. But, if it has to be one of the two, it must be Jowy's death. The fight with him in the Tenzan Pass really rips my heart apart, even when I know he will be saved. I literaly start tearing up the second Chant starts to play during the dialogue.... But, well, Jowy's my all time fav game character from the beginning, so it really can't be helped. I still remember how happy I was when I first found out he could be saved. I literaly went around the house hugging anything and everything on my way out of happiness

As you may guess already, Suikoden 2 is my fav out of the series and it was my first too. My brother's a fan of the series too, and when we got 1 some time later we were ecstatic. I haven't actually played the others, only watched a bit, but I have the whole Suikoden 3 manga collection and about the rest I've looked up on the internet, so I have a general view on them. And currently my hands are really itching to get a hold of Suikoden 5...must go buy it soon!

It felt really good to draw Suikoden again after so long...of course I've done some random sketches now and then but never gotten so far as to finish them...that's why it's so good to hear to have done well after finally finishing one

Pitäisi piirtää Suikodenia useemmin, kun se on edelleenkin miulla vähintään yhtä iso fanituksen kohde kun DGM, vaikka ei ehkä päälle päin näy. Siks tuntu tosi hyvälle piirtää taas valmiiksi asti Suikoden aiheinen kuva

I was searching for a quote that would fit Odessa the best, but since it's been so long since I actually truly played the first game I had to go ask my brother for advice, since he just recently completed the game with my little sister, and he suggested this Josta puheen ollen, mie olen edelleen sitä mieltä että miun veljestä sais aivan täydellisen Flikin. It felt good to draw a Suiko character again ^^

Actually I had a little accident with the colouring of the cape I had some reference pictures printed out before I started drawing, but despite them when I began colouring I realized I had coloured the underside of her cape red as well, even when it should have been dark-greenish. I was like "Oh, shi--... O_O", but managed to somehow cover some of the red without it looking entirely horrible. I guess the colour doesn't look that bad even with my mistake, after all

I will most definitely draw more, now that I got back to it I already have some ideas and characters I want to draw in mind~ (Jowyyyyyyy...!! >o< ) ^^ Some of them I have never tried to truly draw before, but I will try my best to make them justice ^^

Beside of Jowy, for now I'm thinking of doing something of Shu, Riou and Nanami, maybe something of Flik and Viktor, Tir, Leknaat, Sasarai and Luc. There might be some other characters showing up, too, but I'll try to keep the main focus on these characters.

I'm also planning to draw my own versions of some of the epic scenes. That will be difficult, though, since I have the habit of trying to crasp the 'feeling' and 'emotion' of the scene when I draw very strongly, and I get so emotional when I play those scenes through every time to begin with, that re-living and creating the scenes in my head again and again is gonna kill me with emotional overflow X_x

I love the Silverberg family too! So far I think Shu has been my favourite of them, though no one beats Jowy in my eyes ^^

It's always so touching when a character dies in the Suikoden series. I swear I start tearing up the second I hear the music "Chant" that plays during the fight with Jowy at the end of Suikoden 2, even when I have played that damned scene about 50 times, but still ;_;
