Description I took this photo with a Nikon D70s
iso 1600
shutter speed 8000
F6.3
I was told would never get a good result at that high of iso and should never go above iso 400 with this camera I want to know all of your thoughts and opinions.
Thank you

well lighting is the biggest part and practice to get the shot you want and the look try many different angel and positions as long as you have good focus and the depth of field you want you cannot go wrong and for a great shot always use a tripod

Blonderator [2008-01-26 05:45:42 +0000 UTC]

Well, I don't know much about photography, but I'm assuming higher ISO levels create graininess or noise. Anyway this is a great shot, and I personally think that there are no noise problems with this image.
I like how you can see the individual water droplets at the top. Nice job.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yamiyalo In reply to Blonderator [2008-01-27 03:57:47 +0000 UTC]

there is some noise in the foreground of the shot put not bad for that high of an iso for the D70

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Maryangelo [2008-01-15 22:34:49 +0000 UTC]

I think it turned out a little too noisy in the forefront of the pic where the section of water is blurry. Its a little distracting because that section takes up so much space so your eye gets drawn automatically to it but it's blurry.
Really cool idea and the water droplets beyond it turned out quite nice!

yamiyalo In reply to Maryangelo [2008-01-18 22:59:06 +0000 UTC]

yes I do agree and I also noticed tis before I put it up. I however over all was quit impressed with the out come of the shot with the settings i used

badchess [2008-01-15 18:08:44 +0000 UTC]

Better to get the shot you want and try to fix the noise later (noise ninja, etc) then miss the shot completly.

Very interesting and very dynamic picture. I wouldn't go as far as to say: avoid ISO higher than 400. But I usually try to use the lowest ISO possible. If this happens to be 1600, so be it .

yamiyalo In reply to signmeupscotty [2008-01-20 13:34:11 +0000 UTC]

Sharpeshots [2008-01-08 23:14:25 +0000 UTC]

idealy it's nice to avoid too high a iso. This is hardly an idea situation though. Meanwhile, there is a big difference in iso in a dSLR and a point and shoot, maybe the person was confusing the two? I've seen tons of high shots taken with the d70 and i've taken a bunch of acceptable ones with my d40.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yamiyalo In reply to Sharpeshots [2008-01-20 13:35:03 +0000 UTC]

d40 supposedly does a better job with the noise at high iso

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sharpeshots In reply to yamiyalo [2008-01-20 15:08:08 +0000 UTC]

it does a great job at high iso actually, even better if noise reduction is turned on, but that does slow the camera a little.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yamiyalo In reply to Sharpeshots [2008-01-27 04:23:10 +0000 UTC]

I do use noise reduction I leave it on

I think it came out great, a darker scene would probably had more noise but this one was just fine.
