I simply adore the amount of detail in this picture, especially in the background where every leaf, every blade of grass seems to be deliberate. The same goes for the scales/feathers of the violet dragon. The black dragon almost seems a bit flat in comparison. Also all the special markings and accesoires of the black dragon make it look as if it belongs into a different universe (that's not supposed to be negative, I mean it just as an observation).
One thing that irritates me about the chain near the black dragon's wing is that I can't seem to figure out where it's supposed to be attached, which makes it a bit weird to look at.
Then there's this glowing figure in between them which took me quite a while to make sense of. I guess since it's so much closer to the black dragon and due to some similaritiesin colour that the black dragon is somehow creating the figure through magic? But even if that should be correct, I feel like the connection could be made clearer, maybe by adding some of the same glow to the dragon.
One last thing is about the perspective: I feel like the trees are a bit to small, especially when compared to some of the foliage in the foreground. A really great painting, nevertheless.
