Really glad you replied. 
The lighting of course is not that out of place. It's just there seems to be more light and probably a light source behind the girl in the sky (sun?). If you ignore that (it could something else), lighting is just perfect. That's why I said I like it.
What I noticed also was the lack of detail in background compared to the rest. Now that you mention it, I agree it keeps the focus on the girl, still providing the undertone. And add the nice lighting on the cards and the girl,..... it's a work of genius. I felt this, but now I comprehend too.
I'm no critic or a painter either. Just saw the nice work and thought of sharing the idea. Glad you turned in to a discussion and made justice to a nice piece of art.

Not sure if you consider this, but this could also be the female character 'Rogue' from the X-men series ([link] )...who often 'appropriates' other mutant's powers thru physical contact...in this case she could have intentionally or accidentally touched 'Gambit,' who in one of the TV cartoon series used to 'charge' playing cards and toss them offensively at opponents...which would then consequently explode like grenades.

Actually, Rogues hair is a pretty distinct brown, even before she gets the white streak. This girl's hair is pretty black from what I can see.
Second, Gambit can charge cards with mass amounts of energy, but he's not telekinetic by any means so Rogue couldn't make those cards float if she touched him.
