Description I'll be leaving on the 13th and will gone until April 28th, but I wanted to post this up. >3> /

1) Squash and Stretch - Gives a sense of weight and flexibility. Objects/characters are less stiff, more lively. For more cartoony styles, squash and stretch can be greatly exaggerated to be funnier, and more interesting.

2) Anticipation- Prepare your viewers for the action to come. The character/object builds energy before releasing it into the main action.

3) Staging- is used to direct the audience's attention and show what is most important in the scene. This is used through camera work angles/movement, moving one object/character in a way that doesn't crowd the drawing and confuse the eye, having the character's attention shift to where you want the audience to look next, and being able to tell a story/narrative through these movements.

4) Straight Ahead vs Pose to Pose - are two types of animation techniques. Straight ahead is drawing each frame consecutively after the next. Pose to pose is drawing the key frames  (the frames that are crucial to the movement) first, then filling in the breakdowns and inbetweens after. Pose to Pose typically helps you as an animator keep the proportions the same throughout the animation, and gives you more control over timing and movement. There are certain elements (like cloth, hair and fire) where "straight ahead" animation is very effective in giving the motion more fluidity, but always check between frames and make sure your proportions and timing stay in check.

That's all I've got for now, I'll do more when I get back. ^^/
